Abstract

In a grinding tool for a hand-guided, electrical vibrating grinder which comprises a clamping plate (10) for attachment to a tool holder of the vibrating grinder and a grinding member as a continuation of the clamping plate, for grinding surfaces with a concave curvature and points which are difficult to access, the grinding member comprises an elongated, dimensionally stable carrier (15), which is an integral part of the clamping plate (10), and a highly flexible casing (16) surrounding the carrier (15) and having an elliptical to circular external contour. For receiving two individual grinding sheets (19, 20) or one hollow-cylindrical grinding sheet, an adherent cover (17, 18) is disposed on the top and bottom surface of the casing (16).

Description

Grinding tool Background art The invention relates to a grinding tool for a hand-guided, electrical vibrating grinder of the type defined in the preamble of claim 1.
In a known grinding tool of said type (EP 0 610 801 Al, Figs. 13 and 14), the grinding member, which is an integral part of the grinding plate, takes the form of an isosceles triangle, of which the hypotenuse coincides with one side of the triangular, equal-sided clamping plate and the catheti, which are a multiple of the hypotenuse, have a convex curvature. In the region lying in front of the clamping plate, the underside of the grinding member is provided with a Velcro cover for receiving a grinding sheet in an adherent manner.
Such a grinding tool is used for grinding in more confined spaces which may not be reached by a grinding disk or a grinding plate.
Advantages of the invention In contrast, the grinding tool according to the invention for a handMPiidedn, electrical vibrating grinder, having the characterizing features of claim 1, may advantageously be used for grinding surfaces with a concave curvature and points which are difficult to access, e.g. in particularly narrow and deep interstices of visual surfaces to be machined.
Advantageous developments and improvements of the grinding tool indicated in claim 1 are possible by virtue of the measures described in the further claims.
Drawings There follows a detailed description of embodiments of the invention which are illustrated in the drawings. The drawings show: Fig. 1 a plan view of a grinding tool for a vibrating grinder, Fig. 2 a section along the line II-II in Fig. 1, Fig. 3 a section along the line III-III in Fig. 2, Fig. 4 a similar view to Fig. 3 of a modified grinding tool.
Description of the embodiments The grinding tool, shown in plan view in Fig. 1 and in longitudinal section in Fig.
2, for a hand-guided, electrical vibrating grinder in the form of a so-called delta grinder, such as is illustrated and described, for example, in EP 0 610 801 Al, comprises a clamping plate 10 for attachment to a tool holder of the vibrating grinder and a grinding member 11, which is a continuation of the clamping plate 10. The clamping plate 10 on its top surface carries a projecting sleeve 12, which carries at its inside a polygonal course 13 and at its outside three hooks 14, which are arranged offset by identical peripheral angles relative to one another. Upon attachment of the grinding tool to the tool holder of the vibrating grinder, the sleeve 12 slides with its polygonal course 13 onto a corresponding polygonal course of the tool holder so that the grinding tool is locked against rotation on the tool holder. The hooks 14 snap into an interlock device provided on the tool holder so that the grinding tool is also secured in mounting direction on the tool holder and is prevented from accidentally falling or being pulled off the tool holder.
The tongue- or spatula-shaped grinding member 11 comprises an elongated, dimensionally stable carrier 15, which is formed integrally with the clamping plate 10, and a highly flexible casing 16 surrounding the carrier 15 and having an external contour which is elliptical in cross section. Applied to the top and bottom surface of the casing 16 is in each case one adherent cover 17 or 18 which may, for example, take the form of a Velcro cover and is used to receive a grinding sheet 19 or 20. The casing 16 may either be manufactured as a plastic moulded part and glued onto the carrier 15 or be formed by expanding plastic material directly onto the carrier 15. The two adherent covers 17, 18 are either glued onto the casing 16 or formed by expansion directly onto the casing 16. The elongated carrier 15 is of a plane construction, its top and bottom surfaces as well as its side edges extending in each case parallel to one another, and tapers laterally at its free end remote from the clamping plate 10. By means of the individual grinding sheets 19 and 20 adhering to the top surface of the casing 16 and the bottom surface of the casing 16 respectively, grinding may be effected by the grinding tool both from above and from below. This is particularly advantageous for grinding at points which are difficult to access.
Depending on the application the external contour of the casing 16, which in the sectional view of Fig. 3 is elliptical, may be modified, in which case the ellipse may approximate more or less to a circle. In the modified grinding tool shown in cross section in Fig. 4, the external contour of the casing 16 is circular. In said case, instead of placing individual grinding sheets onto the top and bottom adherent covers 17, 18, one hollow-cylindrical grinding sheet 21 is slid onto said covers. It is of course also possible, in the case of an elliptical external contour of the casing 16 such as is shown in Fig. 3, to place a grinding sheet with an elliptical hollow cross section onto the two adherent covers 17, 18.
