Abstract

230,986. Loach, A. B., and Loach, J. H. March 12, 1924. Bracelets, bangles, rings, &c. are provided with flanges or thickened edges between which an ornamental strip may be detachably inserted and retained so that the decorative effect of the bracelet &c. may be varied. The flanges may be formed externally on the edges of the bracelet &c. as shown at b, Fig. 4, and a contractible part-circular strip may be sprung in between these flanges. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 1, the metal-work a of a bracelet &c. may be pierced and an expansible part-circular ornamental strip c may be inserted between internal flanges b so as to show through the bracelet, the strip being retained in position by a spring d. A hole e adapted to be engaged by a pin or the like is provided in the strip d to facilitate removal of the strip e. Several strips of different colours may be mounted in this manner to vary the effect. In the form shown in Fig. 5, an expansible strip d of material may be used to maintain in position an ornamental strip c of silk or like material between inturned flanges b formed at the edges of the bracelet &c., the strips c and d being threaded into position through cut-away portions of the flanges or through apertures f formed in the bracelet. Flanges may be formed on the bracelet &c. on both the inner and outer faces.
