Abstract

A dot riveting tool 10 comprises a pair of pliers with a riveting tip 11 and a die 12 attached to respective jaws. The tip and die may be attached by welding to the jaws. The tool allows one-handed riveting to be carried out. The items which can be accommodated for riveting are a button 13, a socket 14, an eyelet 15 and a stud 16.

Description

DURABLE DOT RIVETING TOOL This invention relates to a durable dot fastener, riveting tool.
Durable dot fasteners are used extensively in the clothing,car, and boat industry.
However the fitting of these fasteners has remained a time consuming and costly process.
This invention provides a simple hand tool, consisting of a set of mole grips with a small die and riveting tip welded to the jaws in such a way as to allow a one handed riveting operation.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 Shows in side elevation, the assembled tool; Figure 2 Describes the riveting tip and die; 13 Button, 14 Socket, 15 Eyelet, 16 Stud.
Figure 3 Shows the durable dot Items to be riveted; Figure 4 Shows the tool in operation with jaws closed; Referring to the drawing the tool comprises of a pair of mole grips 10 , a riveting tip 11 and a die 12. This is shown in fig 1 .
The riveting tip 11 fig 2 is welded to the upper jaw, and die 12 fig 2 is welded to the lower jaw.
To perform the riveting operation. Push the button 13 fig 3 through the relevant material and place the socket 14 fig 3 on the other side. Place the assembly in and between the jaws with the button in the die 12. Close the preset jaws together and apply pressure to rivet the button and socket together.
To rivet the eyelet 15 fig 3 and stud 16 fig 3 repeat the sequence above substituting the button and socket with eyelet and stud. Push the eyelet 15 fig 3 through the relevant material and place the stud 16 fig 3 on the other side. Place the assembly in and between the jaws with the eyelet in the die 12 fig 1. Close the preset jaws together and apply pressure to rivet the eyelet and stud together.

1 A Durable Dot Riveting Tool comprising pliers,mole grips with a riveting tip and die, fixed to the jaws therein.
2 A Durable Dot Riveting Tool as claimed in claim 1 to rivet together the durable dot button 13 fig 3, and socket 14 fig
3.ln one simple operation 3 A Durable Dot Riveting Tool as claimed in claim 2 to rivet together the durable dot eyelet 15 fig 3, and stud 16 fig 3. In one simple operation.
