Abstract

An anti-theft device for preventing unauthorised removal of golf clubs from a car comprises a supporting member secured horizontally to the boot or floor of the car and a storage rack having a cradle type frame 4,5,6 with an aperture at either end to allow the bag and clubs to protrude. A hinged top frame 1,3,13,14 opens to allow access for the bag and closes over the bag and can be locked in the closed position by members 15 and 17. The frame may be coated in soft plastics material to prevent damage to the bag.

Description

A STORAGE RACK FOR GOLF CLUBS TO FIT INTO THE REAR OF A CAR This invention relates to a security storage rack for a golf bag and clubs or the like.
Simple storage rack to secure golf bags and clubs in the boot of a car when not in use are well known and are usually adapted to be secured in your house, theft from these places is wide spread, and is expensive for the owner or his insurance company because the cost of a golf bag and a set of golf clubs is at least several hundreds of pounds, car are fitted whith electronic alarms "but golf clubs are still stolen the object of the present invention is to provide a golf clubs storage rack incorporating an effective security device.
According to the invention a storage rack for golf clubs comprises a bracket which bolts to the boot of a car and lets a supporting frame to be clamped onto it, the supporting frame comprises a supporting frame having means for securing it at one end to a fixed surface with said frame projecting there from a clamping frame pivotally connected to either end of the supporting frame and adapted to be moved into a closed position in which golf bag and clubs or the like located on the supporting frame is confined between the clamping frame and the supporting frame and means for locking the clamping frame to the supporting frame is confined between the clamping frame and the supporting frame and means for locking the clamping frame to the supporting frame to secure it in the closed position and thuse prevent removal of the golf clubs from the storage rack.
The clamping frame preferably has at least one aperture through which a protruding part of the golf bag and clubs project.
Preferably, the clamping frame has two apertures through which the bottom of the golf bag and the top of the golf bag respectively project.
Preferably, also the clamping frame has substantially parallel side members interconnected between their ends by a crossmember which forms a common boundary between the two apertures.
The clamping frame is preferably pivotally connected to the supporting frame ata plurality of spaced apart points.
The clamping frame is preferably pivotally connected to said one end of supporting frame.
Preferably, the clamping frame has means for holding it in the open position adjacent to the fixed surface.
Preferably, also the locking means comprises holes at those ends of the supporting and clamping frames remote from the fixed surface which can be aligned when the clamping frame is in the closed position for the reception of a padlock or lock.
Preferably, the clamping frame has an open bottomed box 31 which covers the padlock to impede its illicit removel.
Preferably, also the sides of the box are parallel and inclined to facilitate legitimate unlocking of the padlock.
Preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example only with referance to the accompanying drawing which is a diagrammatic perspective.
View of a storage rack for golf bag and clubs with a clamping frame there of in closed position.
Refering now to the drawings, a storage rack for golf bag and clubs includes a supporting frame which largely corresponds to the simple storage racks already known.
This frame is a welded steel structure having means for securing it at one end to a fixed vertical surface such as a wall or to a bracket in the boot of a car with the said frame projecting there from said means comprising members 2 and 7 whith holes 8 for reception of fastner to such as bolt to robust brackets in boot of a car or a wall, three U shaped bars 4 welded to member 6 in a horizontal plane and straight bar 5 is welded to bars 4 to make a cradle to accomadate a golf bag and is adapted to support a golf bag and clubs "not shown" the structure formed by the parts 1.
i. 3. 4. approximately simulates the shape of a golf bag and is adapted to support a golf bag and clubs "not shown" in known manner, however, the supporting frame has addittonal novel parts consisting of two vertical members 14 welded to the member i and a horizontal member 9 welded to upper ends of the member 7 and the members 14 also consisting of a member 15 welded to and depending from the point of intersection of the bars 11 and 13 several holes li are spaced along the member the member 15.
A clamping frame consisting of a welded structure of hardend carbon steel which is difficult to cut, includes two substantially parallel side members 1 and 3 which are pivotally connected at one end to the member 14 at two spaced apart points 10 and which are bent vertically downword at their other ends.A horizontal member 13 is welded across said other ends putruding at either side of members 1 and i the member L has a U shaped bracket 17 welded horizontaly at the front of member L which will accomadate member 15 when member 15 as been lockated through member 17 and the clamping frame is closed, position illustrated, for the reception of a paddlock "not shown" the members 1 and 3 of the clamping forms a common boundarys between two apertures 12 and li which are defined also by members 4 of the cradel through said apertures the bottom and top of the golf bag protruds that is to say the bottom and the top parts of a golf bag can respectively project, thus when a golf bag and golf clubs is confined between the clamping and supporting frames and said frames are padlocked together, the projection of it's protruding parts through the apertures 18 and li positively ensures that the golf bag and golf clubs cannot be removed from the storage rack.
In modification the clamping frame is pivotally connected to that end of the supporting frame remote from the fixed surface, in which case the clamping frame hangs down from said end of the supporting frame when in the open position and the locking means must be repositiond adjacent to said surface.
The storage rack is fully adjustable to accommodate all sizes of golf bags when the storage rack is in the closed position security member 30 will cover bolt in hole i to stop ilegal removel from securing brackets.
