Abstract
A backboard 5 carries a plurality of target areas separated one from another by dividing members 1 which, in use when struck by a ball, deflect the path of the ball in such a manner that a correct allocation of score can be made. The preferred section of the dividing members is triangular. Cones 2 can be provided at the junction of two dividing members.
Description
FINE MOTOR SKILL FOOTBALL TARGET
The invention relates to a demountable Fine Motor Skill Target.
Targets are areas at which a marksman aims, they are divided into smaller areas with each area being allocated a certain number of points. However, it can be difficult to judge on a numbered target the point zone in which a ball has landed. A ball aimed at the present invention which does not land squarely on a numbered section will hit one of the orthogonal divisions or corner cones and be deflected onto the closest numbered square of the target thus facilitating the allocation of points.
The present invention may be constructed in metal, plastic or wood.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1: shows the front of the target
Figure 2: shows the back of the target with hinges in place which allow the target to be folded in two.
Figure 3: shows the target in perspective with the support struts in place
Figure 4: shows the four corner sections from the back and the pieces used to join the frame together
Figure 5: shows the front of the four corner sections of the frame
Referring to Figures 1 and 2 the target comprises of two boards 5 measuring 75 centimetres by 150 centimetres. Figure 2 the two boards are joined together using hinges 6 to form the target measuring 150 centimetres by 150 centimetres. In Figure 1 the target is subdivided into smaller targets, squares 3, with sides of 50 centimetres delineated by orthogonal sections 1.
Cones 2, 8 centimetres high are placed at the corners of the centre square.
The target is surrounded by a frame as shown in Figures 4 and 5 which is made up of four corner sections 11, 75 centimetres by 75 centimetres. Screws through connecting pieces 12 join the corner sections together. Flanges 13 are attached to the corner sections. Carriage bolts through holes 4 in the front of the target and then through the flanges 13 joint the frame to the target.
Figure 3 shows the upright support struts 7 and base support struts 10 which are removable so that the target can be folded in two. The support struts are connected to each other and to the target by screws through connecting pieces 9 at each angle. Pegs can be placed through the flanges 8 on the base support struts to fix the target to the ground. Rubber underneath the flanges 8 prevent floors from being scratched if the target is used indoors.
Claims (7)
1. A framework structure for providing and displaying a plurality of targets comprising:
A grid arrangement of two sets of substantially parallel rigid members, the sets being substantially orthogonal and whereby each of the plurality of targets is delineated by the grid arrangement, characterised in that at each interface between adjacent targets of the plurality, the framework includes a dividing member for separating the targets.
2. A framework structure according to claim 1 wherein at the point of contact between the corners of any four touching targets, there is provided a cone member.
3. A framework structure according to either claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the two sets of parallel rigid members which comprise the framework are formed from wood, metal or plastics material.
4. A framework structure according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the dividing members comprise further rigid members attached to and raised from those rigid members at each interface between adjacent targets.
5. A framework structure according to any one of claims 2-4 wherein the cone members are arranged to be raised from the rigid members.
6. A framework structure according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the plurality of targets are individually numbered.
7. A framework structure as substantially herein described and with reference to the accompanying drawings
