Abstract

A traction power-operated blender includes a base, a container and a drive wheel 2 turned by a traction cable. A spiral spring is mounted in the drive wheel and wound up when the drive wheel is rotated by the traction cable. A fly wheel 5 is coupled to the drive wheel for one-way rotation, and a cutter is turned by the fly wheel to chop, whip, mix, or liquefy foods in the container.

Description

TRACTION POWER-OPERATED BLENDER The present invention relates to blenders for chopping, whipping, mixing, or liquefying foods, and relates more particularly to a traction power-operated blender which is operated by traction power.
Regular blenders are commonly comprised of a cutter driven by a motor to cut foods in a container. There is known a hand-operated apparatus which uses a transmission gear train driven by a crank handle to turn a basket, causing it to produce a centrifugal force for moving water away from foods. However, because the basket Is turned by the transmission gear train, the revolving speed and the torsional force are limited. There are also known various manual citrus juicers for extracting juice from fruit.
However, these manual juicers have only one function for extracting juice from fruit, they cannot chop or mix foods.
An object of the present invention is to provide a manual blender for chopping, whipping, mixing, or liquefying foods which is manually operated by traction power. According to the present invention, a driving wheel is turned by a traction cable to rotate a fly wheel and to wind up a spiral spring. The output power of the fly wheel is coupled to a cutter, causing it to cut foods. When the traction cable is released from the hand, the spiral spring drives the driving wheel to take up the traction cable for a next traction.
The present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the annexed drawings, in which: Fig. 1 shows the driving mechanism of the traction power-operated blender according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is similar to Figure 1 but showing the driving wheel driven by the spiral spring and the traction cable taken up by the driving wheel; Fig. 2A is an enlarged view taken on a part of Figure 2, showing the roller disengaged from the sloping guide; Fig. 3 is a side view in section of the base of the blender according to the present invention, showing the arrangement of the internal driving mechanism; and Fig. 4 is a plain view of the blender according to the present invention.
Referring to the various drawings attached herewith, a detailed descrtption of the structural features of " TRACTION POWER-OPERATED BLENDER " of the present invention is as follows: Referring to Figures 1, 2, 2A, and 3, a traction cable 1 is wound round a driving wheel 2, and pulled to rotate the driving wheel 2. The driving wheel 2 has a series of teeth 22 raised around the periphery of the upper part. A spiral spring 3 is mounted within the driving wheel 2 at the top, having one end fixed to the driving wheel 2 and an opposite end fastened to the base 6 of the blender. Therefore, when the traction cable 1 Is pulled, the spiral spring 3 is wound up to reserve energy; when the traction cable 1 is released, the spiral spring 3 releases energy, thereby rendering the driving wheel 2 to take up the traction cable 1.A driven wheel 4 is revolvably mounted inside the base 6, having a gear 41 fixedly secured at the top side and meshed with the teeth 22 of the driving wheel 2, and a coupling flange 42 at the bottom side loosely coupled to a fly wheel 5, which is fixedly mounted around an output shaft 51. The coupling flange 42 of the driven wheel 4 has a side notch 43, which is covered by the outside wall of the fly wheel 5 A sloping guide 44 is mounted within the side notch 43. A roller 45 is put in the side notch 43 and disposed between the sloping guide 44 and the fly wheel 5. When the driven wheel 4 is rotated in the counter-clockwise direction, the roller 45 moves along the sloping guide 44 into engagement between the sloping guide 44 and the fly wheel 5, causing the fly wheel 5 rotated by the driven wheel 4.When the driven wheel 4 is rotated in the clockwise direction, the roller 45 is kept in the position shown in Figure 2A, therefore the fly wheel 5 is disconnected from the driving wheel 4 and does no work. This design permits the fly wheel 5 to be rotated in one direction only. Therefore, when the traction cable 1 is pulled outwards, the spiral spring 3 is wound up, and the driving wheel 2 is rotated to turn the fly wheel 5 via the driven wheel 4 (see Figure 1); when the traction cable 1 is released, the spiral spring 3 drives the driving wheel 2 to take up the traction cable 1, and the driven wheel 4 is disengaged from the fly wheel 5, permitting the fly wheel 5 to keep rotating in the same direction (see Figure 2). Therefore, when the traction cable 1 is continuously pulled and released, the output shaft 51 is continuously rotated in the same direction at a high speed.
Referring to Figure 4, the output shaft 51 of the fly wheel 5 extends out of a top center hole (not shown) on the base 6 and fixedly mounted with a pinion 52. The traction cable 1 extends out of a side hole (not shown) on the base 6 for pulling by hand. A container 7 is mounted on the base 6 at the top side, having an axle 72 revolvably mounted in a bottom center hole (not shown) and sealed by a rubber ring 73, a cutter 71 fixedly mounted around the axle 72 at the top inside the container 7, and a toothed connector 74 fixedly mounted around the axle 72 at the bottom outside the container and coupled to the pinion 52 of the output shaft 51. Therefore, when the output shaft 51 is rotated, the cutter 71 is turned to cut vegetables, fruits, etc. in the container.
