Abstract

An eye-level cook-book holder comprising a clear, transparent visor 13 and a support-bracket 15 held together and forming a U shape with means 17 provided in the support-bracket for securing or releasably securing it to the inner-side of a kitchen wall-unit door 10, the base of the support-bracket and visor projecting forward of the kitchen wall-unit door whereby a cook-book 18 may be held between the outer-side of the door and the visor. The cook-book is at eye-level, and the door may be opened and closed, no part of the holder being fixed to the outer-side of the door.

Description

COOK-BOOK HOLDER This invention relates to an eye-level cook-book holder.
It is well known that when cook-books are used in a kitchen environment they are susceptible to food splash and therefore need to be protected. In most kitchens, space on the working surface is at a premium; all the same, cook-book holders are designed to be set down on the working surface, most often in the working area, where even relatively small cook-books can take up valuable space. Invariably, cook-book holders become unstable when accommodating large-format cook-books; and often cook-book holders do not protect cook-books from food splash.
A large, clean area of unused readily available space exists on the outer-side of the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door) where both large and small format cook-books can be easily accommodated and read at eye-level in an ideal and stable position well above the working surface, fully protected from food splash.
According to the present invention there is provided an eye-level cook-book holder comprising a transparent visor, for example, in the form of an L shape member of clear acrylic sheet or other suitable material, and a support-bracket, for example, in the form of an L shape member of sheet metal or other suitably formed material, both members held together by suitable means and forming, for example, a U shape with means provided in the support-bracket for securing or releasably securing it to the inner-side of a kitchen wall-unit fascia (door); the base of the support-bracket, and transparent visor, projecting forward of the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door), and cornice (where fitted), whereby a cook-book may be placed on the support-bracket and held between the outer-side of the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door), acting as a back-prop, and the transparent visor preventing the cook-book from falling; the cook-book may be viewed and read at eye-level, and the kitchen-unit fascia (door) may be opened and closed without there being anything, not any part of the cook-book holder, fixed or secured to its outer-side.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in front elevation, the cook-book holder projecting forward from its secured or releasably secured position (not shown) on the inner side of the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door); Figure 2 shows in perspective, the U shape cook-book holder with means for securing it, or releasably securing it (not shown), to the inner-side of the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door); Figure 3 shows in side elevation, the separated parts of the cook-book holder relative to the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door), cornice, and cook-book.
Referring to the drawing, the cook-book holder comprises a transparent visor 13 in the form of an L shape member, and a support-bracket 15 in the form of an L shape member, both members held together by suitable means at 12 and forming a U shape with holes 16 provided in the support-bracket 15, and capscrews 17, for securing or releasably securing it (not shown), to the inner-side of the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door)1 0.
in order to receive and hold a cook-book to be viewed and read at eye-level, the cookbook holder is secured, or releasably secured (not shown), to the inner-side of the Kitchen wall-unit fascia (door) 10, cook-book (outline) 14 and transparent visor 13 as shown in Fig 1.
In order to releasably secure the cook-book holder to the inner-side of the kitchen wallunit fascia (door), the support-bracket 15 may be provided with keyhole-slots in horizontal plane (not shown) or other fixing means at 16, and capscrews 17, to facilitate quick removal of the cook-book holder for stowage or for other purposes as shown in Fig 2.
The cook-book may be viewed and read at eye-level, supported by the support-bracket 15 and held between the outer-side of the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door) 10 and the transparent visor 13 as shown in Fig 3.

Claims (3)

1. An eye-level cook-book holder comprising a transparent visor, for example, in the form of an L shape member of clear acrylic sheet or other suitable material, and a support-bracket, for example, in the form of an L shape member of sheet metal or other suitably formed material, both members held together by suitable means and forming, for example, a U shape with means provided in the support-bracket for securing or releasably securing it to the inner-side of a kitchen wall-unit fascia (door); the base of the support-bracket, and transparent visor, projecting forward of the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door), and cornice (where fitted) whereby a cook-book may be placed on the support-bracket and held between the outer-side of the kitchen wall-unit fascia (door), acting as a back-prop, and the transparent visor, preventing the cook-book from falling; the cook-book may be viewed and read at eye-level, and the kitchen-unit fascia (door) may be opened and closed without there being anything, not any part of the cook-book holder, fixed or secured to its outer-side.
2. An eye-level cook-book holder as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the supportbracket may be provided with keyhole-slots in horizontal plane and capscrews, or other suitable means for releasably securing the cook-book holder to the inner-side of a kitchen wall-unit fascia (door) and thereby facilitating quick removal of the cookbook holder for stowage or for other purposes.
3. An eye-level cook-book holder substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
