Abstract
229,787. Wild, Ltd., F. & A., and Quinn, F. Dec. 6, 1923. Cleaners &c.-In machines of the type in which the cotton &c. is treated by a saw-toothed roller and drawn up a suction shoot to a perforated cage the material is withdrawn from the cage, subjected to treatment by a second sawtoothed roller, and returned to another portion of the cage, from which it is finally delivered. The. material is fed to the, roller c which co-operates with a knife d or knives and is passed up the shoot e to the cage f as described in Specification 218,877. The fibres collected on the cage are removed by rollers u and acted on by a second roller m, which co-operates with a knife n and delivers them along a shoot o to a portion f<2> of the cage. They are finally delivered at the point r. The dirt &c. separated by the knife n may be removed by a worm-conveyer w. A stripping- roller s, which may be intermittent in its action, acts on the roller c and delivers the dirt &c. on to a travelling band t. According to the Provisional Specification, the second roller may deliver the treated fibres to a second independent perforated cage.
