Abstract

229,537. Veasey, J. H. May 20, 1924. Percussive tools.-The conical surface 11 of the foot of a rock-drill cradle is held between plates 9 retained by cross pins 12 in a head 10 which is pulled down by bolts 24 bearing on a pressure plate 16. The lower surface 5 of the cradle foot is held by a support 13 which bears directly (or, as shown, through jaws 7, 6 for clamping the cradle to an arm) on a pressure plate 15 guided by sleeves 27. The plates 15, 16 are forced apart by pressure fluid admitted to a flexible bag between them. The plates are contained in a cylinder 17 or may be arranged, as shown in Fig. 3, to slide one on the other, with packings 23 for the bolts.
