Abstract

A Jack 9 comprises at least one shouldered internally threaded member 11 for fitting into a hollow metal tube, and is extended by turning screw-threaded member 13 in at least one direction by a hole provided in the Hexigon Head 7. The Jack can be used for other purposes with or without the use of hollow tube. <IMAGE>

Description

SCREW TYPE JACKING PLATE THIS INVENTION CONCERNS IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO JACKING UP OF WINDOWS AND THE LIKE.
IN PARTICULAR THE PRESENT INVENTION HAS REFERENCE TO THE REPLACEMENT OF WINDOWS MAKING UP BAYS.
CONVENTIONALLY BAY WINDOWS ARE OF WOOD AND THE INHERENT STRENGTH OF BUILDING ROUND AND OVER UPON CONSTRUCTION GIVES OVERALL STABILITY.
ONE OF THE PRINCIPLE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH REPLACING WINDOWS WITH MODERN MATERIAL P.V.C.u ALUMINIUM IS AN INABILITY TO REPLACE THE STABILITY OF SOLID TIMBER.
5. IT IS AN OBJECT OF THE INVENTION TO PROVIDE AN IN-BUILT JACK WHICH AFFORDS A PERMANENT SUPPORT TO CARRY THE WEIGHT OF THE STRUCTURE ABOVE, SAY A FIRST FLOOR BAY AND AGAIN AT GROUND FLOOR LEVEL.
6. A FURTHER OBJECT OF THE INVENTION IS TO PROVIDE JACKS ENABLING ONE TO LEVEL MOST ITEMS AND LEAVE THE JACKS IN POSITION.
7. CONVENIENTLY THE JACK HAS A HOLE FOR ADJUSTING WITH BAR/NAIL OR BY A SPANNER ON THE HEXGON HEAD.
8. THE DIMENSIONS OF THE JACK FOR USE IN THE INSTALLATION OF BAYS ARE A3 MM DIA. X 47 MM. IN THE CLOSED POSITION EXTENDING TO 70 MM.
9. THE ENTIRE JACK IS MADE OF STEEL BAR, TURNED DOWN AND THREADED WHERE APPROPRIATE AND PLATED TO PREVENT CORROSION.
10.WHILST IT IS ENVISAGED THAT THE JACK USE WILL MAINLY BE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IT WILL BE SEEN THAT IT CAN BE SAFELY USED TO HOLD HEAVY WEIGHTS AND ITS USE AS LEGS FGR LEVELING A SHED CR HEAVY KITCHEN APPLIANCE AND LEAVING IN SITUATION PROVIDE THE POSSIBILITY OF PRODUCING AND SELLING A PROP/LEG FOR EASY FI'ENT FOR THE D.I.Y. MARKET.
11.MADE UP OF FOUR PARTS (A) THREADED SECTION WITH HOLE,FOR INSERTING BAR FOR ADJUSTING TURNING ANTI CLOCKWISE INCREASES PRESSURE BY VIRTUE OF INCREASE IN LENGTH.
THE TWO STEPPED THREADED PIECES, THE SMALLER DIAMETER FITS INTO APPROPRIATE TUBE.

THICK WASHER WHICH SITS ON THE EXTENSION PIECE OF ITEM (A) AS A SUPPORT/pressure pad 13.APPLICATION OF THE JACK IN CONJUNCTION ;ITH MOST TUBES OF STEEL CR ALUMINIUM TO MAKE INTO A SUPPORT PROP, INSERT STEPPED PIECE(11) 1NO ONE END OF TUBE PLACE (13) THREADED BOLT COMPLETE WwITH STEPPED PIECE (11) INTO THE OTHER END. THE JACKS CAN BE MADE ANY SIZE TO ACCOMADATE ANY TUBE SIZE. THE TUBE SITS ON THE SHOULDERS OF THE JACKS GIVING AN EVEN DISTRIBUTION OF WEIGHT.

Claims (6)

1. A screw type Jack for fitting on to Tubes to provide an extended support/prop.
2. A screw type Jack which can be used for supporting and levelling.
3. A screw type Jack according to claim 1 in which the material used is steel.
4. A screw type Jack according to claim 1 which is Plated.
5. A screw type Jack wgich according to any one of the preceding claims comprises four parts.
6. A screw type Jack which according to any one of the preceding claims in which the screw part is pre-drilled to give the requisite and recommended lever point for raising or lowering.
