Abstract

A dust sheet 1 has one edge 2 coated with adhesive and can be used once or repeatedly for the purpose of protecting skirting boards and floor coverings when painting walls. The adhesive is protected initially by a removable backing 3, and provides a seal when applied to the skirting boards or carpet. Several strips of adhesive and backing separated by perforations 4 allow repeated use of the same sheet. <IMAGE>

Description

ADHESIVE BORDERED DUST SHEET This invention relates to protective dust sheets used by decorators.
Plastic dust sheets are available for protecting floor coverings and furniture during interior decorating.
These products are large and cumbersome, and do not afford an effective protective seal between the wall and skirting boards or between the skirting boards and the adjacent floor coverings.
According to the present invention there is provided a sheet of plastic, one edge of which is coated with an adhesive and then covered with a protective backing that can be removed. Multiple strips of adhesive and backing may be separated by perforations, thereby allowing multi-usage of the dust sheet. The strip of protective backing can be removed and the plastic dust sheet applied directly to the skirting board or floor covering. The adhesive coating permits an effective seal, preventing spillage from the wall onto underlying skirting boards or floor coverings. By using the perforations between strips of adhesive, the first strip can be disposed of and the process repeated.
A specific imbodiment of the invention can now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the dust sheet 1 with an adhesive coated border 2 covered by protective backing 3 that can be removed.
Figure 2 shows a dust sheet wittnultiple strips of adhesive coating separated by perforations 4.
Figure 3 shows the dust sheet applied directly to the skirting boards, providing an effective seal between the wall and the dust sheet.

Claims (2)

1 Dust sheets with one edge coated with a strip of adhesive and covered with a protective removable backing for use during decoration.
2 Several rows of adhesive and backing may be present, separated by rows of perforations allowing the adhesive edge to be used several times, but also ensuring an adequate seal each time.
