Abstract

229,039. Engholm, F. W., Gardner, A. A., Saunders, H. A., and Clayton, E. S. Dec. 12, 1923. Vehicle and like lamps.-In a vehicle or like lamp the source of light is arranged at the common focus of opposing reflectors, generated by conic sections. The opposing reflectors 2, 3, Fig. 1, are both parabolic and have a common focus 1. whereby light from a source at the focus 1 is projected in parallel rays through the aperture 4 in the front reflector 3. The front reflector may be a plane surface, when a convergent beam will be formed. A divergent beam is formed by a complete ellipsoidal reflector having an aperture at one end of its major axis and the source of light at its inner focus. To limit dazzle when using opposed parabolic reflectors, a tube 5, Fig. 5, is fitted in front of the opening 4, having a slight parabolic curvature. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 27853A/04; 14487/14; 17657/15, [Class 75 (ii), Lamp chimneys, &c.]; 103,830, 173,243, 200,647, and 225,282.
