Indicators actuated by floats.-In indicators of the kind in which the movements of a float are transmitted by a lever and flexible connection which is kept taut by a spring to the indicator proper, the float and float arm are adapted to move freely in an upward direction with respect to the lever. The indicator comprises a casing 1, a glass cover 2 over a plate 3 apertured to show a graduated drum 5 mounted on a bracket 7 and having secured to it a pullev 8 carrying a chain 9 passing through the threaded tube 14. A helical spring 11 has its ends secured to studs 12, 13 on the pulley and bracket. A rigid tube 15, Fig. 1, is secured by a nut 16 to the tube 14 and on its other end is a nut 18 having an extension in the form of a split threaded sleeve secured to the sheath 20 by a nut 21. An outer sheath 20<a> is secured at one end by a crimped head 22, and at the other to the extension 26 of a casing 25, Fig. 6, which has a flange 33 screwed to a plate 31 which is screwed to a plate 36 secured to the tank, packing being placed between the flange and the plates. Secured to the plate 31 is a bracket 43 on which is pivoted an arm 41, having a pin 57 about which pivots an eve secured to the wire 10 the movement of which in the casing 25 is substantially horizontal and which passes through a restricted aperture in the extension 26. The bracket 43 is substantially U-shaped, as shown in Fig. 8, and comprises a bottom plate 44 and side plates which have flanges 42 welded to the plate 31 and are bent over as at 45, 46 to prevent meddling with the transmitting-mechanism. The bracket fits closely in the openings in the tank top and plate 36. The float-arm 52 has a flat end piece 50 which is forked and has eyes 51 embracing the pivot pin 47 and between them is pivoted the lever 41 having an extension 49 which engages the float-arm.
