Abstract

228,806. Brighouse, J. Nov. 17, 1924. Hooks.-A shackle of the sister-hook type has a hollow screw-threaded boss 3 on one hook-member 2 which engages in a corresponding socket 4 in the other hook-member 1 to form a pivot. A binding-screw 5 holds the hook-members in operative relationship, the arrangement being such that the boss 3 and socket 4 prevent the load on the links from being transmitted to the screw 5. Spring-pressed catches 6 co-operate with recesses 7 to lock the hook-members in the closed position. Fig. 5 shows a section on the line A, A, Fig. 2.
