Abstract
A demountable security barrier comprises a gate-like barrier section 1, 2, 3, 4 demountably attachable to a ground securing unit. The ground securing unit comprises an upper steel surface plate 7 and two steel tubes 8 protruding vertically below the steel plate. The ground unit is designed to be permanently installed in concrete with the upper plate flush with the ground surface. The gate-like section comprises a number of tubular steel uprights 1, 2, 3, 4 coupled together by upper cross members 12 and a lower horizontal steel plate 13. Two of the uprights 2, 3 extend below the lower plate for engagement with the tubes 8 of the ground securing unit. A locking means 6 may be provided to lock the gate-like section to the ground securing unit with the lower plate 13 of the gate-like section in face-to-face contact with the upper plate 7 of the ground unit. A central strengthening support 5 can be designed according to a customer's requirements. <IMAGE>
Description
Mobile Security Gate
This invention relates to a fixed driveway security gate which is removable and can be relocated.
The gate consists of a metal structure (designed to the customers specific requirements) which slides into a ground securing unit which is permanently fixed in place.
The ground securing unit(s) can be fixed in place wherever the security gate may be required. Eg. a customer may purchase one security gate and two ground securing units.
The ground securing units may then be fitted in the driveway at the customers home address and at his/her place of work, immediately behind the car parking space where he parks his car in front of a wall, fence, pillar etc.
The security gate would have multiple uses. When fixed in place in a driveway entrance, the gate would prevent the owners car being removed from the driveway, would prevent unauthorised entry to the driveway of vehicles, would deter trespassers and would be thieves and would prevent vehicles driving or reversing into the driveway for turning manouvers. An optional wall mounted notice would be marketed saying 'SECURITY GATE FIXED IN PLACE. NO
UNAUTHORISED ENTRY'.
Security gates and posts are widely available at present.
However, the unique aspects of this invention are as follows:
Existing Security posts designed to be erected to
prevent unauthorised use of parking spaces or to
prevent theft of the parked vehicle are designed to
be permanent fixed units which fold where fixed in
the ground and which leave a protruding knuckle at
ground level. Such posts regularly result in damage
occurring to vehicle tyres. The design of this
mobile security gate is such that the gate itself is
removed to enable a vehicle to exit/enter and the
ground securing unit is flat-topped and is installed
level to the ground surface, thus preventing damage
to vehicle tyres.
A full description of the invention and method of operating follows and is described by reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Drawing 1 Shows the front view of the mobile
security gate.
Drawing 2 Shows the front view of the ground
securing unit.
Drawing 3 Is a bird's eye view of the ground
securing unit fixed in place.
Drawing 4 Shows the locking device fixed in the
locked position.*
Drawing 5 Shows the enclosed lock at the base of
the mobile security gate with the
locking device fixed into the ground
securing unit.
Drawing 6 Shows a transparent view of the ground
securing unit fixed below ground in a
concrete block.
Drawing 7 Shows the complete mobile security
gate, ground securing unit and
concrete block (with the front of the
concrete block cut away below ground
level to reveal the ground securing
unit). For demonstration purposes the
unit is shown fixed in the centre of a
driveway entrance (not to scale).
* For the purpose of describing the complete unit and to enable assembly of a prototype, an existing 3 lever lock has been used. If and when a patent is issued negotiations will take place with various lock manufacturers to design and produce a multi-alternate angle security lock which will run the full extent of the locking plate in the ground securing unit.
Referring to the drawings, the mobile security gate consists in structure of four upright steel square tubes (l)t2)(3)(4) approx 125mm wide. Of these uprights (1) and (4) will extend from the cross support member (13) at the base of the mobile security gate. Uprights (3) and (2) extend from the upper cross members (12), through the lower cross member (13) and will protrude ten inches below the security gate and will slot inside the uprights of the ground securing unit (8).
The centre design (5) is a strengthening support, the shape of which may vary according to the customers design requirements.
The number (11) is a further strengthening support. For the purpose of demonstration the number 4 has been used.
Again, this design will vary according to the customers home address or parking space number. Alternatively, a nameplate can be inserted.
The locking device (9) is encased in a steel enclosure (6) at the centre of the base of the mobile security gate.
The bottom cross member of the security gate (13) fits flush against the top of the ground securing unit (7).
When the key of the lock is in the locked position the alternately angled levers of the lock secure behind the locking plate in the top of the ground securing unit (14) thus preventing the two flush surfaces (7) and (13) from being prised apart.
The ground securing unit is fitted into the ground with the top plate (7) being flush with the ground surface and the unit is encased in concrete below ground level. The size of the concrete block (10) and method of securing would be dependent on the type of surface and conditions underground.
Approx dimensions: Security gate - height 30 inches.
Width 14 inches.
Ground securing unit - width 14
inches. Depth 15 inches.
Claims (7)
1. A mobile security gate comprising two seperate rigid sections The gate
itself, being mobile and relocatable, and the ground securing unit which
is a permanent fixture which is set into concrete and into which the
mobile gate is positioned. The gate comprises a rigid shaped gate with
two protruding legs which legs slide into the ground securing unit thus
providing added strength and security, a means for releasably securing
the gate to the ground securing unit and centre support providing added
strength and variable design feature.
2. A mobile security gate as claimed in claim 1 wherein means are provided
for the gate to slide into the ground securing unit with a locking device
for which to secure the two sections together to form one rigid gate to
form an obstacle and to prevent the unauthorised removal of a vehicle or
other movable object secured behind it.
3. A mobile security gate as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 which positioning
is designed to prevent the unauthorised access to a private dwelling by
vehicles which occupants are intent on theft, trespass or turning manpowers,
4. A mobile security gate as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 which1 when removed
from the ground securing unit, is designed to be mobile to be transported
with a vehicle and repositioned at any suitable authorised parking space
for that vehicle where a ground securing unit is fixed in place.
5. A mobile security gate as claimed in claim 4 which, when fitted in place
within a ground securing unit with ground securing unit is encased in
concrete which complete gate, ground securing unit and concrete block as
a complete structure is positioned behind a vehicle the front of which
vehicle is parked against a wall pillar or other permanent fixed solid
structure will prevent the unarthorised removal of said vehicle;
6. A mobile security gate as claimed in any preceding claim which is removable
from the ground securing unit by means of the release of the securing lock
and lifting out of the gate for transportation with the vehicle and for
relocating elsewhere which removal will leave a ground securing unit fitted
in place below ground wherein no obstacles remain protruding above ground
level to damage the vehicle or its tyres when said vehicle is driven away.
7. A mobile security gate as described herein with reference to figures 1-7
of the accompanying drawings.
