TITLE OF THE INVENTION
Program Reservation System BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the invention
The present invention relates to a program reservation system. More specifically, the present invention relates to a program reservation system such as VCR plus reservation system, in which a broadcasting program is reserved by entering a program code that is designated in advance for each broadcasting program. Description of the prior art
In the VCR plus reservation system, by analyzing G code (program code) as entered, data of a start time, an end time and a guide channel of a program to be reserved are generated. In addition, the guide channel is a number inherently assigned to each broadcasting station (hereinafter, may be simply called as "inherent number" or "guide channel"), but the guide channel may be different from a television channel to be received (herein after, may be simply called as "television channel" or "receiving channel".
Therefore, in a conventional first type of a video tape recorder provided with the VCR plus reservation system, at first, by a manual operation, the start time, - 1 -4 the end time and the receiving channel of the program to be reserved are set on the basis of a correspondence table of the guide channels and the receiving channels, and the inputted G code.
Furthermore, in a conventional second type of video tape recorder, the start time, the end time and the receiving channel are set on the basis of a correspondence table of a predetermined area that is selected from correspondence tables of guide channels and the receiving channels in all of areas, and the inputted G code.
However, in the first video tape recorder, there was a problem that the correspondence table of the guide channels and the receiving channels must be, at first, formed in the memory, and therefore, it takes a long time. Furthermore, in the second video tape rocorder, there was a disadvantage that an area code is co be sought by an operation manual, for example, and then, the area code must be inputted, and since the correspondence tables of all the areas are required, a memory capacity becomes large.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Therefore, a principal object of the present invention is to provide a novel program reservation 2 - 1 system.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a program reservation system in which it is possible to form a correspondence table of guide channels or inherent numbers and receiving channels or television channels without troublesomeness, and a large memory capacity is not required.
A program reservation system according to the present invention comprises a first memory means (34) including an inherent number area (34c) in which inherent number data of a plurality of broadcasting stations each transmitting a broadcasting signal containing a station code are written and a channel area (34a) in which channel data are to be written in corresponding to each of the inherent numbers, and a second memory means (36) in which at least data of a television channel to be received is written on the basis of at least of a program code characterized in that the first memory means (34) further includes a station code area (34b) in which station codes are written in advance in corresponding to the inherent numbers, and that the system further comprises a determination means which compares the station code contained in a received broadcasting signal and the station codes written in advance in the station code area (34b) to determine whether or not there is a -1 coincident station code; and a writing means (16) for writing data of the television channel in a memory position of the channel area (34a) corresponding to the coincident station code.
In the program reservation system according to the present invention, in a preset mode, 5 channel, for e xample, is selec'ted, a broadcasting signal of the 5 channel is received by a tuner, and a station code contained in the broadcasting signal is derived. Then, in the first memory means in which respective station codes and inherent numbers such as guide channels corresponding thereto are written in advance, a station code that is coincident with a derived station code is searched. If there is the coincident station code, channel data corresponding to the station code is written into a storage position of the channel area of the first memory means corresponding to the station code by the writing means. Thus, a correspondence table of the guide channels (inherent numbers) and television channels (receiving channels) is formed in the first memory means. In addition, in reserving a program, data of a start time, an end time and a television channel of the program to be reserved is written in the second memory means on the basis of an inputted program code (G code) and the correspondence table (first memory).
A In accordance with the present invention, since the channel data of the television channel being received is automatically written in the first memory, it is unnecessary for a user to operate the system for forming the correspondence table of the inherent numbers of the broadcasting stations and the television channels. Furthermore, it is unnecessary to prepare in advance the correspondence tables of all the areas, and therefore, a memory capacity may be small.
The above described objects and other objects, features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description of the present invention when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 is a block diagram showing one embodiment according to the present invention; Figure 2 is a flowchart showing a portion of an operation of Figure 1 embodiment; and Figure 3 is a flowchart showing a portion of an operation of Figure 1 embodiment.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
With referring Figure 1, a video tape recorder 10 which is an embodiment according to the present invention and provided with the VCR plus reservation system includes an antenna 12 by which a broadcasting signal transmitted from a broadcasting station can be received, and the broadcasting signal is inputted to a tuner 14. In the tuner 14, only a desired high-frequency signal is converted into an intermediate frequency (IF) signal by channel selecting signal outputted from a channel selecting circuit 18 under the control of a VTR control 16. A video IF signal is detected by a detection circui 20. A video signal as detected is processed by a video processing circuit 22, and then, outputted. Furthermore a VPS (Video Programming System) signal multiplied in a vertical blanking period of the video IF signal is derived by a VPS signal deriving circuit 24. A station code, an area code and a program code container4 in the VPS signal are analyzed, and then, inputted to the VTR control 16.
In a preset mode, the VTR control 16 writes a receiving channel in a predetermined storage position of a receiving channel area 34a of a memory 34 on the basis of the station code contained in the VPS signal and the television channel selected by the channel selecting signal (receiving channel). In addition, the memory 34 includes the receiving channel area 34a as well as a 1 station code area 34b in which the station codes are written and a guide channel area 34c in which guide channels corresponding to the station codes are written, and the station codes and the guide channels are stored in advance. Furthermore, in a program reservation mode, the VTR control 16 sets a receiving channel, a date, a start time and an end time of a program to be reserved into a memory 36 in response to a control signal inputted from a data entry circuit 30 through an operation of a remote control 26 or a key 28.
Next, with referring Figure 2, an operation of the VTR control 16 that a receiving channel is preset in the memory 34 will be described. At first, in a step S1, by operating the remote control 26 or the key 28, the preset mode is started for presetting the data of the receiving channel or television channel. In a step S3, a desired receiving channel is selected by the channel selecting circuit 18. Thereafter, when the VPS signal is inputted in a step S5, in a step S7, the VPR control 16 compares the station code contained in the VPS signal with one of the station codes written in advance in the station code area 34b of the memory 34 so as to determine whether or not a coincident station code exists. If the station code included in the VPS signal is not coincident with the station code of the memory 34 in a step S9, the - 7 -1 process returns to the step S7 such that the station code contained in the VPS signal is further compared with another station code of the station codes in the memory 34. If the both station codes are coincident with each other, in a step S11, the VTR control 16 writes the data of the receiving channel in a storage position of the receiving channel area 34a corresponding to a storage position of the coincident station code. Succeedingly, the VTR control 16'determines whether or not the channel preset is to be terminated in a step S13. If there is the television channel to be preset, the process returns to the step S3 such that the television channel is selected.
Furthermore, with referring Figure 3, an operation of the VTR control 16 in reserving the program will be described. At first, in a step S21, the G cod- (program code) inputted through an operation of the remote control 26 or the key 28 is analyzed. In a step S3, a guide channel contained in the G code is compared.with one of the guide channels written in advance in the guide channel area 34c of the memory 34. Then, the guide channel contained in the G code is not coincident with the guide channel of the memory 34 in a step S25, the process returns to the step S23 to further compared the guide channel of the G code with another guide channel of 1 the memory 34. If there is a coincident guide channel, in a step S27, the receiving channel corresponding to the coincident guide channel is written in the memory 36. At this time, the date, the start time, and the end time that are obtained by analyzing the G code are also written in the memory 36.
In the operation, if the channel preset mode is set through the operation of the remote control 26 or the key 28, the receiving channel "02", for example, is selected by the channel selecting circuit 18, and therefore, the IF signal of the receiving channel "02" is outputted from the tuner 14. Then, the VPS signal is derived from the video IF signal by the VPS deriving circuit 24, and the station code contained in the VPS signal is analyzed.
The VTR control 16 compares the station code "07", for example, inputted from the VPS signal deriving circuit 24 with the respective station codes written in advance in the station code are 34b of the memory 34, and the data of the receiving channel "02" is written in the storage position corresponding to the storage position of the station code "07", for example. In the same manner, the data of the receiving channels "05" and "08", for example, are respectively written in the memory locations corresponding to the memory locations of the station codes "01" and "02", for example. In addition, the 9 - -3 station code "Ol", "02" and "07" are the station codes of ARD (national), ZDF (national) and 3SAT (commercial) in Germany, respectively.
After the completion of the channel presetting mode, if the G code is inputted by the remote control 26 or the key 28, the VTR control 16 analyses the G code by a G code decoder 32. Then, if the guide channel contained in the G code is "10", for example, the VTR control 16 detects the receiving channel "05" from the memory 34, and then, writes the receiving channel data "05", and the date (November (11).05), the start time (12:00) and the end time (12:30) of the program as decoded by the decoder 32 in the memory 36. Furthermore, if the guide channel obtained by analyzing the inputted G code is "04", for example, the receiving channel "02", for example, is detected from the memory 34, and therefore, in the memory 36, the receiving channel data "02", and the da-te (December (12).25), the start time (20:00) and the end time (21:00) of the program, for example, are written.
According to this embodiment, since in the present mode, the receiving channel data is automatically written into the receiving channel area 34a of the memory 34 in corresponding to the guide channel by the VTR control 16, it is unnecessary for a user to operate any keys for forming the correspondence table of the receiving - 10 0 -4 channels and the guide channels.
In addition, in the above described embodiment, the VPS signal is utilized; however, it is needless to say that the present invention is applicable to a PDC (Program Delivery Control System) signal. Furthermore, although a specification has not been determined yet at the present time, if a station code is contained in an EDS (Extended Date Service) signal, the EDS signal can be also applied to the present invention. Furthermore, in the above described embodiment, the present invention is applied to the video tape recorder or video cassette recorder; however, the present invention can be, of course, applied to the television receivers.
