Abstract

A bed, has a base frame 1, which rests on a plurality of legs 2 which may be retractable, One leg is centrally located. Connecting and support bars (3, Fig.4) are provided. The base frame is adapted to rotate clockwise, anticlockwise, or back and forth in these two directions. Means can be provided for activating, and arresting the rotating actions of the base frame, and securing it in a stationary position. The contour of the base frame may be adjusted by adjusting the height of one or more of the legs (Fig.3). <IMAGE>

Description

ADJUSTABLE BED This invention relates to a rotating, height and position adjustable bed.
Beds are well known items of furniture which come in different sizes. Examples are cot, single, double, king size, and others.
Beds are however kept stationary both when being used, and when not in use.
According to the present invention, there is provided a rotating, height and position adjustable bed comprising a body in the form of a base frame, having a plurality of legs, with one leg centrally located. Connecting and support bars link the legs and edges of the base frame, as well as provide support for the base frame. Means iF provided for adjusting the height of the legs and the position of the base frame, with the base frame being adapted to rotate in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction or back and forth between these two directions.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective, the bed with some of the legs retracted; Figure 2 shows in perspective, the bed , and it's rotation tracks; Figure 3 illustrates the height and position adjustment of the base frame and bed; Figure 4 shows the base frame with the centrally located leg, and the connecting and support bars.
Referring to the drawing the bed comprises a base frame 1 which rests on plurality of legs 2 ( which may be retractable) with one leg centrally located as shown in Fig 1. Connecting and support bars 3 link the legs 2 and edges 4 of the base frame 1, as well as provide support for the base frame 1, as shown in Fig 4. The bed may be provided with lower side panels (not shown), or side guard panels 5.
The height of the bed and position of the base frame 1 can be adjusted by adjusting the height of one or more of the legs 2 as illustrated in Fig 3. This can be done manually by means of say a knob, pedal, other similar means, or by an electronic or electromechanical device(not shown). On reaching the desired height or position, the height adjustment mechanism is arrested and the base frame is secured at this height or position by means of a catch or other device ( not shown ).
The bed also incorporates a control device say a motor, or other electro-mechanical device (not shown) which activates the base frame 1 and causes it to rotate in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction, or back and forth between tiiese two directions. The rotation of the bed may also be carried out manually.
The control device is also used for arresting the rotating action of the base frame 1 and the legs 2 and securing the bed in a stationary position. The control device can be activated remotely, or by a knob, push button, or other means accessibly located to the occupant of the bed, or other persons.

Claims (5)

1 A bed comprising a body in the form of a base frame and leg(s), the base frame being adapted to rotate in a clockwise or anticlockwise manner about an axis.
2 A bed as claimed in Claim 1 wherein means is provided for activating the rotating movement of the base frame.
3 A bed as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, wherein means is provided for controlling the rotating movement of the base frame.
4 A bed as claimed in Claim 3 wherein means is provided for arresting the rotating movement of the base frame.
5 A bed as claimed in any preceding claim wherein means is provided for securing the bed in a stationary position 6 A bed substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-4 of the accompanying drawing.
