Abstract
228,399. NestlÚ & Co., Ltd., C., and Bussell, S. W. April 9, 1924. Hair-curling appliances.-An electrical apparatus for use in the permanent waving of hair of the tubular type in which the heating effect is principally directed towards the root portions, is so arranged that the heating effect is greatest at the front end of the tube and is gradually reduced towards the rear end. The apparatus comprises an unperforated metal tube 1 on which an electrical insulated resistance 3 is so spaced as to produce the desired result. Alternatively, the t'ube 1 may be thinner at the front end and gradually thickened towards the rear end. A light metal cover 10 is attached by a ring 11 and screws 12 to an insulating collar 5. A U- shaped tubular member 6 having a flared projection 8 and which is made from or covered with suitable heat insulating material, is provided t'o receive the electrical leads 7. The apparatus is suspended by a ring 13. Heating of the outer tube 10 is prevented by an insulating binding 9 of asbestos cord. The front end 2 of the tube 1 is flared outwardly.
