Abstract

228,377. Wadhams, W. H., Ziehm, A., Sondermann, H. A., and Woithe, P. March 14, 1924. Bichromated colloid processes -The sensitiveness of colloid layers containing potassium bichromate is increased by adding thereto a base metal compound, such as magnesium or nickel chloride or manganese sulphate, and an acid salt, such as acid sodium phosphate. Less effective metal compounds are chlorides of iron and copper. The sensitiveness of such layers is further increased bv also adding aniline hydrochloride, which produces a marked increase evem withoat the inclusion of an acid salt. The colloid layer may be dipped into a solution of the sensitizing agents, or an emulsion of gelatin, gum, starch &c. with these agents may be coated on celluloid, paper or glass. Development of the exposed layer is effected in known manner at about 45‹ C. in pure water, or in watar containing ammonia and borax, and the image may be coloured in any manner.
