Abstract

A measuring gauge for measuring the remaining alcohol or beverage in a bottle has an accurately calibrated (to 1/6th and/or 1/5th of a gill units and/or any other such measures as may be required), perspex/plastics measuring scale. Specially shaped gauges are used for specific bottles due to their differing shapes and sizes. A foot is incorporated at ninety degrees to the calibrated scale, which is placed either on a work surface or on the base of the bottle enabling a very accurate measurement of the liquid remining in the bottle to be taken, either in an upright or inverted position. This endures an accurate and precise measurement of liquid remining in a bottle for stocktaking purposes. <IMAGE>

Description

This invention relates to a gauge tor the measurement ot alcoholic spirits and similar beverages in a bottle.
The measurement of liquid remaining in a bottle at the time of stocktaking is usually guess work, particularly due to the tact that bottles are of irregular shapes and sizes. This is extremely inefficient and proves very costly to the proprietor oi the licensed establishment.
According to the present invention there is a perspex/plastic measuring gauge1 specifically designed to measure the amount of .liquid remaining in a bottle, in 1/6th and/or 1/5th of a gill calibrations and/or any other such measure as may be required.
There is a foot incorporated into the design at right-angles to the calibrated scales, together with calibrations on each side of the gauge. In the upright position the foot rests on the work surface and the facing scale is calibrated to show the measures remaining in the bottle in this position. Where the bottle is installed in an optic and in an inverted position the foot rests on the base of the bottle and the corresponding scale is designed to be read in this position.
A gauge is available unique to each bottle's shape and size with each brand and type of bottle requiring the corresponding gauge.
A specific embodiment ol the invention will now be described by way crf e;rample, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Referring to the drawing the invention comprises a perspex/ plastic measuring gauge (1) calibrated in 1/6th and/or 1/5th of a gill units and/or any other such measures as may be required. Scales are marked on each side of the gauge, one side for use when the bottle is upright (2), the other side for inverted measurement (3). A gauge is available for every specific bottle shape and size < 4).
In order to obtain a completely accurate reading a fcot is incorporated at the base (5) to place on the work surface if tho bottle is upright, or to place on the base of the bottle if the measurement is obtained whilst the bottle is installed in dn optic.
Each gauge is clearly marked with the name of the spirit, and the name of the manufacturer of the spirit, and the size of the bottle for which each specific gauge is to be used. The advertising slogans and/or trade marks and trade names of particular companies, or a colour specifically identifying
their product (i.e. "GORGONS GIX'1green ) can be incorporated h in the design if required. The gauge can be manufactured to the specific shape of a bottle if required by the organisation commissioning the gauge for their particular use.

Claims (3)

1. A gauge comprising of an accurately calibrated scale with
a foot at ninety degrees to the aforementioned.
2. A gauge individually calibrated in 1/6th and/or 1/5th of a gill units and/or any other such measures as may be required.
Each gauge being unique to each bottle's shape and size.
3. A gauge calibrated on each side to enable measurement whilst the bottle is in both an upright (freestanding) position, or whilst installed in an optic.
