Abstract

The padlock box is a box of such a design as will fit over the staple part of a hasp and staple and provide a protective cover for the padlock shackle and the staple. The hasp is first pulled over the staple to form the 'closed' position and the padlock box is then fitted over the staple. The open padlock shackle is pushed inside the padlock box and through the staple and the padlock is then closed. The padlock box cannot be removed until the padlock is unlocked, thus giving protection to the padlock shackle and staple as can be seen from the drawing on sheet 4/5. <IMAGE>

Description

PADLOCK BOX This invention relates to a padlock box which protects the padlock shackle and the staple part of a hasp and staple and is either removeable or forms part of the hasp.

Burglary and theft is becoming more frequent. Very often the means of entry into buildings and goods vehicles is by cutting through the shackle of a padlock or by cutting through tlie staple part of a hasp and staple by use of bolt cutters.

The padlock box is basically a cover for a padlock and staple and is of such design as to prevent the use of bolt cutters or other tools to break through the padlock shackle or the staple and to minimise damage to the padlock or staple by any other gleans.

After the hasp has been fitted over the staple to form the 'closed position' the padlock box is fitted over the staple and the padlock is fitted to the staple from under the padlock box or from the side of the padlock box depending on which type of padlock box is being used.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which : Sheet 1/5 shows the front view, side view, and plan of the padlock box type 'A' with backplate I . frontplate 2 , sideplates 3 and 4 , and top plate 5 and sheet 4/5 shows this in position over a padlock 13 and padlock shackle 14 on a hasp 15 and staple 16.

Sheet 2/5 shows the front view, side view, and plan of the padlock box type 'B' with backplate 6 , frontplate 7, and top plate 8, and sheet 5/5 shows this in position over a padlock 13 and padlock shackle 14 on a hasp 15 and staple 16.

Claims

A A padlock box comprising a backplate, frontplate, 2 sideplates and a top plate. The backplate has a slot in it so that the padlock box can fit over the staple part of a hasp and staple.
2 A padlock box as claimed in Claim I but without the top plate.
3 A padlock box as claimed in Claim I but without the sideplates.
4 A padlock box as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 with a vertical slot in the backplate or a horizontal slot in the backplate or both a vertical and a horizontal slot in the backplate or a circular hole in the backplate.
5 A padlock box as claimed in Claim I or Claim 2 or Clam 3 or Clam 4 but fixed to or part of the hasp.
6 A padlock box comprising a backplate and a frontplate of any shape connected together by any means so as to provide cover and protection for the padlock and /or padlock shackle and/or staple part of a hasp and staple and is either removeable or fixed to or part of the hasp part of a hasp and staple or fixed to or part of the staple part of a hasp and staple.
