Abstract
227,835. Odell, K. Jan. 15, 1924, [Convention date]. Rotary dial or table sheet-feeds.-Cards are fed to embossing and printing presses by an intermittently rotating feeder 15 comprising four slides 24 which are simultaneously adjustable on guides 25 on a member 19 secured to a base 16 fixed to a shaft 14. The slides 24 are operated for radial adjustment relatively to the shaft 14 by screws 27 geared to a hand-operated bevel wheel 30 by bevel wheels 29. The screws 27 are prevented from longitudinal movement by abutments on the bar 16 engaging between collars on the screws, and the screws engage nuts 26 on the slides 24. The cards before being embossed are placed in clips 33 at the ends of the slides 24, and are registered by end registerings stops and adjustable side registers. The shaft 14 is intermittently rotated through quarters of a. revolution by bevel gearing 36, 37, operated by ratchet mechanism from a moving part of the press. To stop the motion at the end of a quarter of a revolution, the shaft 14 is fitted with a disc 45 fitted with four V-shaped notches 46 engaged in turn by a spring-pressed plunger mounted in a casing 47, which is adjustably secured to the frame 12 so as to enable the pressure with which it engages the notches 46 to be varied. The plunger is moved away from the notch 46 when power is applied again to the shaft 14.
