Description

DEVICE FOR HOLDING SWEETS WITH A HANDLE DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a device for holding sweets which are provided with a handle and is designed to impose a rotational motion on said sweet while it is inside the mouth in order to increase the rate at which it dissolves, thereby increasing the rate at which the flavour is released.
In particular, the device of the invention is designed for use with lollipop-type sweets which include a handle comprising a narrow stick made of wood, plastic or similar.
The device of the invention is specially formed so that it can be held comfortably in the hand and the stick of the sweet can be fixed both easily and quickly.
By using the device of the invention to impose a rotational motion on the sweet while it is in the mouth, said sweet is made to dissolve and can therefore be tasted without the person eating it having to carry out any action on said sweet.
According to the present invention, the device comprises a straight casing in the form of a handgrip, inside which is mounted an axial tubular shaft at one end of the casing, one end of said shaft facing an orifice in said end of the casing. The opposite end of said tubular shaft is connected to a drive mechanism housed within the casing and which is activated by means of an external control.
Preferably, the drive mechanism comprises an electric micromotor powered by a battery which is housed inside the same casing, the power supply circuit being connected and disconnected by means of the external control, said control moving axially and comprising an electrical switch.
The above mentioned tubular shaft may comprise an axially grooved collar made of an elastically deformable material and whose internal section is slightly less than that of the stick which forms the handle of the sweet. This collar may be slightly trunco-conical in form, the larger end facing the orifice in the end of the casing, whilst a rod is fixed axially to the other end, said rod being joined to a cogwheel which, by means of an intermediate worm and wheel mechanism, engages with the output cogwheel of the micromotor shaft.
The casing may be in the form of a straight prism or a cylinder which is circular or oval in section, etc.
Preferably, the casing tapers toward the end which houses the tubular shaft in a slightly trunco-conical section through which said tubular shaft passes, reaching the region of the free end where it faces an orifice provided therein and through which the stick which constitutes the handle of the sweet is introduced, said stick being made to penetrate tightly inside the tubular shaft in such a way that it is gripped thereby. In this way, when the micromotor is connected and the drive mechanism activated, the rotation of the tubular shaft wi-Il cause the sweet to rotate by means of the stick with which it is provided.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In order that the invention be better understood, the accompanying drawings show by way of a non-limiting example one practical embodiment thereof.
In said drawings: Figure 1 is a front elevation view of a device according to the invention with a lollipop-type sweet fixed therein.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the device shown in figure 1 with the casing opened to expose the internal mechanisms.
DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT As the accompanying drawings show. the device of the invention comprises a casing 1 in the form of a handgrip which is easy to hold. The casing may be in the form of a prism with smoothed or rounded edges, or that of a cylinder which is circular or elliptical in section, etc.
The casing may present at one end a section 2 which decreases in cross-section, tapering to a cylindrical or prismatic section 3, the free end said section 3 being provided with an orifice through which the stick 4, which constitutes the handle of the sweet 5, can be introduced.
As can be seen from figure 2, the casing 1 comprises two halves 6,7 whose opposing edges are provided with grooving and tonguing means or flanges for fixing them together.
Within the casing formed by the two halves 6,7 is housed an electric micromotor 8 powered by means of a battery (not shown) which can also be housed inside said casing. A cogwheel 9 is fixed to the output shaft of the micromotor 8 and engages with a cogwheel 10 joined to the shaft of a worm 11 which in turn engages with a cogwheel 12, the shaft of which is joined to the collar 13, said collar being axially grooved, slightly trunco-conical in shape and defining a tubular shaft.
The micromotor 8 is powered by a battery via two connectors 14,15, the connector 14 being joined to a cover 16 which closes an opening 17 in the casing, said opening being provided for replacing said battery, the electrical connector 15 comprising a sheet which can be elastically deformed by actuating the sliding control 18, which comprises a electrical switch, in order to connect and disconnect the power supply circuit of the micromotor 8.
The free end of the collar 13 lies near to and facing an orifice 19 provided in the free end of the section 3 of the casing. In order that the various components described can be assembled inside the casing 1, the two halves 6,7 are provided inside with transverse partitions 20 which define chambers inside which are housed the battery, the micromotor 8 and the sheet 15 of the switch, the transmission mechanism comprising the cogwheel 10, the worm 11 and the collar 13 which constitutes the tubular shaft.
In order to fix a sweet to the device described, the stick or grip 4 of said sweet is simply introduced into the orifice 19 such that it is made to penetrate the collar 13 under pressure, said collar being made of an elastically deformable material. Once the handle 4 is held by the collar 13, the switch can be actuated in order to activate the micromotor 8, thereby imposing a continuous rotational motion on the sweet 5. If this is carried out while the sweet 5 is inside the mouth, it is dissolved more easily, thereby enabling it to be tasted without the person eating it having to perform any action on said sweet.
The device of the invention can also be used for gripping other elements or tools by simply changing the form of the collar 13. Thus, for example, by making the collar 13 flat and of suitable dimensions, the device could be used to hold the handle of a fork, thereby enabling it to be used as a tool to make it easier to eat certain types of food, for example spaghetti.
