Abstract
A bed 2 is mounted in cantilever fashion on a pair of rails 1 mounted on a wall. The rails are of partially closed channel form - see fig. 2 - is they are rectangular cross section tubes with a longitudinal slot 15 in one side. The bed has a pair of wheeled 6 supporting blocks 4 which run inside the channels. A drive system is provided to drive the blocks up and down the channels so that the bed can be parked near the ceiling when space is at a premium. The drive may be a screw and nut system, where the blocks have a threaded passage and are mounted on a rotatable screw threaded shaft 3, 5 housed inside the channels. This may be hand or motor driven. Alternatively a hydraulic system may be used. <IMAGE>
Description
A Moyable Hanging Bed
Background of Invention
The present invention relates to a movable hanging bed.
Most beds available occupy quite a space in the bedroom. To make full use of space, different types of folding beds are made.
Among them is a kind of flexible bed which can be folded and pushed up against the wall when not in use, so that the space occupied by the bed can be used for other purposes. However, before folding up the bed, all the beddings have to be packed up and placed somewhere else. Besides, even when folded, the bed will still take up certain room.
Object of Invention
It is the main object of this invention to provide a movable hanging bed, which can be lifted up towards the ceiling without packing up said beddings, so as to overcome the above-mentioned shortcomings of the existing folding beds.
'brief Description of Drawings
The above-mentioned object of invention, as well as other advantages, will become clear by the following description and preferred embodiments, with reference to the attached drawings, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a perspective illustration of the bed according to the present invention;
Fig. 2 is a top view of the present bed;
Fig. 3 shows the present bed lifted up close to the ceiling;
Fig. 4 is a front view of a supporting block which slides inside a guide of the present bed;
Fig. 5 shows a side view of said supporting block in Fig.
4;
Fig. 6 shows a manual gearing transmission system of said bed;
Fig. 7 shows a motor-driven transmission system of said bed;
Fig. 8 shows an oil pressure/hydraulic transmission system for said bed;
Fig. 9 shows another oil pressure/hydraulic transmission system for said bed.
Description of Invention
The object of the present invention can be realized by means of two parallel guide rails fastened vertically to the wall, to which a bedframe is connected through supporting blocks which can be vertically moved up or down along said guide rails. A driving system is provided to drive said supporting blocks, to enable the bedframe to move stably and be located at any level along said rails.
The guide rail is a housing in shape, which housing has an opening in one side; one side of said supporting block is housed inside said guide rail, while the other side protrudes out of said rail through said opening. The part of said supporting block inside said rail guide is provided with 4 rotatable wheels which can roll along the inner walls of said guide rail, while its protruding part is connected to a bedframe by means of fastening bolts.
The afore-mentioned driving system can be either a manual gearing transmission system, or a pneumatic transmission system, or an oil pressure/hydraulic transmission system.
The movable hanging bed of the present invention can be moved nimbly up and down; its most distinguishing advantage consists in saving of time and full use of space. After getting up in the morning, the user can simply lift the bedframe up close to the ceiling, without a need to pack up the beddings. Even in a room with a clear height of only 2.1 m, after the bedframe is lifted up, the vacated floor area is sufficient for walking and use for other purposes. The present movable hanging bed is particularly suitable for use in densely populated areas, or places where the price of land is extremely high.
Embodiment I
Referring to Figs. 1 through 7, there is provided a movable hanging bed, comprising two parallel guide rails (1) and a bedframe (2), as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3. A gearing transmission is provided to drive said bedframe. Fig 6 shows a manual gearing transmission system, and Fig. 7 shows a motordriven transmission system. The transmission system comprises two guide screws (3), symmetrically installed inside said two parallel guide rails (1), said guide screws (3) each being in mesh with a corresponding internal-threaded tube (5), provided in each of said supporting blocks (4). Four wheels (6) are provided with each supporting block, to roll along the inner walls of said guide rail. The guide rail (1) is a housing in shape, which house has an opening (15) in one side.The part of said block (4) protruding out from said opening (15) in said guide rail (1) is connected to a bedframe (2) by fastening bolts (7) (see Fig. 5). At the lower end of said two guide screws (3), there are provided bevel gears (8, 8'), of which each is engaged with one of a pair of bevel gears (10, 10'), to realise synchronous rotation of said guide screws. Another bevel gear (9), provided at one end of a handle (11) and meshing with said bevel gear (8), is used to drive said transmission system when said handle (11) is operated (see Fig. 6). In Fig. 7, instead of a handle (11), a motor (12) is used for driving said transmission system, with said bevel gear (9) fixed upon the rotating shaft of said motor (12).
While installing, the above-mentioned guide rails and driving and transmission system can be fixed in a wall, with the lower part of the transmission system (comprising bevel gears 9, 8, 8' and 10, 10') hidden in a housing (16).
It should be noted that for simplicity, in Figs. 6 and 7, the guide rails are not shown.
Embodiment II
Referring to Fig. 8, there is provided a second embodiment according to the present invention, in which there is at least one oil pressure or hydraulic cylinder (13), to push said bedframe supporting block (4), so that said bedframe can be lifted up or lowered down. The perspective view of this embodiment is same as in Figs. 1 and 3.
Installment of the device as a whole is same as in Embodiment I.
Embodiment III
Same as in Embodiment I, there is provided a supporting block (4) for each of said guide rails (1) (see Fig. 9). In addition, there is provided a horizontal crossbar (14) joining the two supporting blocks (4). A hydraulic cylinder (13) is connected to the middle point of said crossbar (14), to control the elevation of the same, thus lifting or lowering said bedframe.
Installment of the device as a whole is same as in Embodiment I.
