Abstract

A dislocating gear stick, created by the introduction of a lockable ball and socket joint 10 into a conventional manual gear stick, will in the unlocked mode, prevent the selection of forward or reverse gears, thereby preventing the vehicle being driven without the owners consent, by dislocating the gear stick so that it cannot operate the gearbox but is allowed to move freely relative to the ball joint.

Description

DISLOCATING MANUELA GEAR STICK.
This invention relates to the dislocating manual gear stick. the manual gear stick change is the most common means in preasent use of sellecting forward or reverse gears for motor vehicles.
To pravent motor vehicles being driven without the owners consent, an anti theft device is introduced into the manual gear stick.
A dislocating gear stick is created by a lockable ball and socket point being introduced into the manual gear stick, by which means in the unlocked mode, it is possible to dislocate the gear stick, therby preventing the sellection of forward or reverse gears.
A specific embodiment of the invention will nor be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing in which.
FIG I shows in through section, the dislocating gear stick in the locked and locatad mode.
FI 2 shows in through section, the dislocating gear stick in the unlocked dislocated mode.
Refering to the drawing, the dislocating gear stick comprises, a ball joint IO fixed to the original gear stick II, which has been cut off at a point above the fork sellector, were the gear stick enters through the floor of the vehicle.
This remaining section of the original gear stick II together with the ball joint 10 is referee to as the lower gear stick 12.
A socket I3 is attached to the upper gear stick I4 which contains a lock I5. This lock I5 shoots a bolt I6 through the socket I3 into a hole I7 in the ball joint ID, therb locating and locking the ball joint IO with the socket I3, allowing the gear stick to be used in the conventional manner to sellect forward ana reverse gears.
In the unlocked mole the key operated lock I5 withdraws the bolt I6 from hole I7 and socket I3, therby dislocating the gear stick. This allows the socket I3, and upper gear stick I4 to move freely over the bat joint IO, therby preventing the sellection of forward or reverse gears.
The ball joint IO and socket I3 are protected by a dome I8 attached to the upper gear stick I4, and a collar I9 fixed to the floor.

I A dislocating gear stick is created by a lockable ball and socket joint being introduced into the manual gear stick, by which means in the unlocked mode it is possible to dislocate the gear stick, therby preventing the sellection of forward or reverse gears.
  2. 2 A dislocating gear stick as claimed in I is created by a key opperated lock , withdrawing a bolt from the ball and socket point as claimed in I, allowing the upper gear stick as claimed in I containing the lock and socket, to move freely over the ball joint as claimed in I
  3. 3 A dislocating gear stick as claimed in 2 therby prevents the sellection of forward or reverse gears.
  4. 4 A dislocating gear stick as claimed in 3 is located and locket, by a key opparated lock smooting a bolt through the socket into 8 hole an the ball joint.
S A dislocating gear stick in the locked mode as claimed in 4 allows the gear stick to be used in the conventionaL manner
