Abstract

A weatherproof and/or dirtproof cover for outdoor equipment comprises a cover of flexible sheet material, which cover is detachably connected to a pouch which is of a suitable size for the cover to be compacted to fit entirely within the pouch.

Description

STORAGE OF COVERS FOR OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION The present invention relates to the storage of weatherproof and/or dirtproof covers for outdoor equipment.
Weatherproof and/or dirtproof covers are widely used on outdoor equipment, particularly on garden furniture, to prevent premature ageing and deterioration pf the equipment. Such covers also ensure the cleanliness of the equipment especially through the prevention of leaves settling on the garden furniture and the undesired algal growth which may occur on the furniture after long periods of non-use. Such covers, owing to their large size, are somewhat cumbersome and are awkward to store when the outdoor equipment is in use.
The present invention concerns a weatherproof and/or dirtproof cover of the kind described above wherein the cover is detachably connected to a storage pouch.
The invention seeks to provide a weatherproof and/or dirtproof cover as described above which can be easily and conveniently stored with minimal effort to the user.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a weatherproof and/or dirtproof cover for outdoor equipment comprising a cover of flexible sheet material, which cover is detachably connected to a pouch which is of a suitable size for the cover to be compacted to fit entirely within the pouch.
A weatherproof and/or dirtproof cover formed in accordance with the present invention has a number of advantages. Since the cover is attached to the storage pouch they will always be in close proximity to one another, therefore the convenience of storage is greatly increased as it will not be necessary for the user to search for the storage pouch when wishing to store the cover. Further, attachment of the cover to its storage means ensures that the storage pouch is less readily mislaid.
The invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which : Figure 1 is a perspective view of a weatherproof and/or dirtproof cover in accordance with the invention showing the storage pouch in a closed configuration containing the weatherproof and/or dirtproof cover, the storage pouch forming a cushion placed on the equipment to be covered, i.e. a garden chair; Figure 2 is a perspective view of the cover of Figure 1, showing the pouch in the open configuration with the cover located over the chair; Figure 3 is a vertical cross section of the pouch of Figure 1 shown in the closed configuration; STORAGE OF COVERS FOR OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT Figure 4 is a vertical cross section of the chair and pouch of Figure 1 shown in the open configuration located so the cover is over the chair;; Figure 5 is a perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the invention showing the storage pouch in a closed configuration containing the weatherproof and/or dirtproof cover, wherein the storage pouch forms part of the back cushion of a garden chair; Figure 6 is a perspective view of the cover of Figure 5, showing the pouch in the open configuration with the cover located over the chair; Figure 7 is a vertical cross section of the chair and pouch of Figure 5 shown in the closed configuration; and Figure 8 is a further vertical cross section of the chair and pouch of Figure 5 shown in the open configuration located so the cover is over the chair.
Referring to Figure 1, there is shown a chair 1 which may be of the folding type or may be of fixed geometry and which may include a cushion of conventional design. On the chair is a cushion 2 formed in accordance with the invention. Within the cushion 2 is a pocket 3 which may be closed by a zip 4 and/or flap 5. The flap 5 (if fitted) is fixed to the cushion 2 by suitable fixing methods 6 (button(s), popper(s), 'Velcro" material).
The pocket 3 contains a cover 7 which is fixed to the cushion 2 or may be placed in the pocket 3 without any fixing.
The cushion 2 may be opened by means of the zip 4 and the cover 7 placed over the chair as illustrated in Figure 1. The cover 7 is made from material which offers resistance to the passage of foreign materials (dust, grime, dirt) and/or moisture (dew, rain, water, snow) and thereby protects the cushion 2 and chair 1 including any cushion of conventional design from these materials.
Figure 5 illustrates a chair 1 which may be of the folding type or may be of fixed geometry. On the chair is a chair cushion 8 which may be fixed to the chair by means of pockets 9 or by means of ties 10 or may not be fixed to the chair. Within the cushion 8 is a pocket 3 which may be closed by a zip 4 and/or flap 5. The flap 5 (if fitted) is fixed to the cushion 8 by suitable fixings methods 6 (button(s), popper(s), 'Velcro" material). The pocket 3 contains a cover 7 which may be fixed to the cushion 8 or pocket 3 by means of a flap of material 11 or may be placed in the pocket 3 without any fixing.
The cover 7 may be removed from the pocket 3 and placed over the chair 1 as illustrated in Figure 6. The cover 7 is made from material which offers resistance to the passage of foreign materials (dust, grime, dirt) and/or moisture (dew, rain, water, snow) and thereby protects the cushion 8 and chair 1 from these materials.
