Straps and bands for personal wear.-A body harness for miners &c. comprises a ring c which is disposed in front of the body and to which are attached adjustable leg slings a, b, the parts d, e, of a belt, the ends f<1>, f<2> of an adjustable shoulder strap f, and a chain g. A sliding buckle f<3> forms a loop f<4> in the strap f through which the end e of the belt is passed after the strap f is placed over the shoulders. The chain g which in use is attached by its free end to a suitable fixed object by means of a spring hook is passed through a loop h on the belt having a light breaking strain and includes in its length a spring i. In a modification, particularly for use in connection with a fire-escape, a shock absorber in the form of a spring with a spring hook at its free end is attached to the ring c in place of the chain g.
