Pencil holders; pencil point protectors.-A lead f disposed in the bore of a pencil casing or holder a, Fig. 3, is moved forward by. an arm d provided on a sliding pocket clip c, the arm sliding with the clip in a longitudinal slot b in the casing. The lead is returned to the casing by pressing the point against any hard surface, and the point of the casing may be protected from undue wear in this manner by a metal member j, Fig. 14. The slot b may be lined with metal. The arm d may be integral with the clip, which may be formed as shown in Fig. 10. The casing may be an ordin. ary wooden pencil casing, or may be formed of metal, vulcanite, &c. A metal sleeve with a rubber eraser may be placed on the end of the casing. A magazine k, Fig. 15, of metal &c., and closed by a screw cap, may be fitted on the upper end of the casing. The Provisional Specification states that the lead may be contained in a tubular metal &c. sheath, to which the lateral arm of the clip is detachably or permanently secured.
