Abstract

An acoustic control device is disclosed having an acoustic control circuit housed in an adapter for acoustically controlling the lighting of the bulbs of a Christmas light set. The adapter has a plug for connecting AC power supply to the acoustic control circuit. A socket (8) for connecting a set of lights to the acoustic control circuit and a level control device (6) for regulating the sensitivity of the acoustic control circuit to an outside sound source. <IMAGE>

Description

ACOUSTIC COthTROL 1IJ7ICE FOR CONTROLLING THE LIGHTING OF A SET OF LIGHTS RACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention is to provide an acoustic control device for Christmas light sets and decorative lights and, more particularly, a control device to connect a Christmas light set to power supply and control the lighting of its BuLas by means of acoustic intensity.
A variety of Christmas light sets and decorative lights are widely used during Christmas holidays. The prior art Christmas light sets and decorative lights provide only simple and monotonous flashing effects and are not very attractive. Tn view of said disadvantages, the present inventor created an acoustic control circuit (U.S. Pat. No. 5,121,435 issued on June 9, 1992) for frequency control of the flashing of Christmas light sets according to the rhythm and volume of a sound. A user can enjoy special flashing effect produced by the light set when such a light set is connected placed near and responsive to a sound generating unit like a stereo or other device This acoustic control circuit is functional. However, it is not easy by an ordinary people to connect this acoustic control circuit to a Christmas light set.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides an acoustic control device which controls the lighting of the BULBS of a Christmas light set by means of acoustic intensity.
The acoustic control device has a plug for connecting to power supply, a socket for connecting a Christmas light set, and an adjusting knob for regulating the sensitivity of the acoustic control circuit thereof.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Fig. 1 is a block diagram of an acoustic control circuit according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is a circuit diagram of the acoustic control circuit of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 illustrates an adapter incorporated with an acoustic control circuit according to the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, an acoustic control circuit according to the present invention is generally comprised of a rectifier 1, a power circuit 2, a sound pick-up device 3, an audio frequency amplifier 4, a comparator 5, a level control device 6, a driver 7, and a socket 8. AC power supply is rectified by the rectifying diodes D1-D4 of the rectifier l and converted into DC power supply sent to the socket 8, onto which the load (Christmas light sets or decorative lights) is connected. The power circuit 2 is consisted of a resistor R1, a capacitor C1 and a zener diode ZD1, and drops the high voltage from the rectifier 1 to a stabilized low voltage for the other parts of the acoustic control circuit. The sound pick-p device 3 is consisted of resistors R2,R3, a capacitor C2 and a microphone MIC. Outside music or sound is received by the microphone MIC causing it to provide an audio frequency signal to the audio frequency amplifier 4.
The audio frequency amplifier 4 is consisted of resistors R4,R5 and an amplifier IC IC1A . The audio frequency signal from the sound pick-up device 3 is amplified by the audio frequency amplifier 4 and then anent to the comparator 5. The amplification degree is controlled by the resistors R4,R5. The comparator 5 is comprised of a comparator IC IClB,which is triggered by the audio frequency signal from the audio frequency amplifier 4 to provide a control signal proportional to the outside music or sound picked up by the microphone MIC. The level control device 6 is consisted of a resistor R6 and a variable resistor VR, and controlled to regulate the sensitivity of the comparator 5. The control signal from the comparator 5 is then sent through resistors R7,R8 to electrically connect a load driving element, which can be a SCR, DIAC or TRIAL, so as to further trigger the load (Christmas light sets or decorative lights) on the socket 8.
Referring to Fig. 3, thereon illustrated is an adapter 9 in which the aforesaid acoustic control circuit is incorporated. The adapter 9 has blades 11 for connecting to an AC power supply outlet, a socket 81 (namely, the socket 8 of the acoustic control circuit of Figs. 1 and 2) for connecting the load, and an adjusting knob 51 for regulating the variable resistor VR of the level control device of the acoustic control circuit in controlling the sensitivity of the comparator.
