Description

INTERNAL CYCLE RACK This invention relates to a frame for retaining cycles in an upright position whilst being transported inside a Caravan,motorhome or similar vehicle.

The need for this cycle rack has occured from the need to A) Protect the internal furniture of Caravans from the damage that can occur when cycles are simply laid flat on the floor and able to move around whilst travelling.

B) Protect the cycle from road grime & rain whilst mounted on an external type of cycle rack be it either roof rack mounted or Towbar rack mounted.

C) Offer added security against theft by the cycle being mounted inside a Caravan/motorhome which can itself be locked whilst unattended.

According to the present invention the rack consists of 2 upright legs located onto a base frame. The upright legs have hanging arms for cycle on each side of the legs. The positions of the hanging arms are adjustable. The rack is held in place in the Caravan/Motorhome by means of an adjustable foot set into the base frame on one side and a final tensioner pad the other side. The pad and foot have rubber fitted to aid grip as no permanent fixing is required.

An embodiment of the invention will now be described by example with reference to accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows the cycle rack assembled for use; Figure 2 shows adjustment of hanging bars; and Figure 3 illustrates adjustment of base leg & tensioner.

Claims (8)

1 A cycle rack comprising of 2 nr upright legs with hanging bars & means of locating onto base frame. A base frame onto which legs are located. The base frame incorporates an adjustable foot to one side and a final tensioner on the other side.

2 A cycle rack as in claim 1 where the hanging bars are adjustable via pre-drilled holes.

3 A cycle rack as in claim 1 or claim 2 where the holes for the hanging bars are drilled through the upright legs 6 nr times each leg or more to suit individual requirements.

4 A cycle rack as claimed in any preceding claim where the adjustable foot is able to be located by a round peg through pre-drilled holes in any one or more faces of the base. frame, and the leg itself.

5 A cycle rack as in claim 4 where the final tensioner is achieved by using a sliding pad located in one end of the base frame, tensioning achieved by tightening screwthread against back of sliding pad.

6 A cycle rack as in claim 4 where final tensioning is achieved by cantilever hinge mechinism located onto base frame by hinge pin, tensioning achieved by tightening screwthread or camplate rotation against back face of hinged plate.

7 A cycle rack as in any preceding claim which is dismantleable for storage purposes.

8 A cycle rack substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
