Abstract

A grinding apparatus comprises an article holder (10), a grinding device (12), and means to transfer an article (14) from the holder (10), clamp same in a determined fashion and present an end of the article (14) to the grinding device (12). The ground article (14) thereafter is ejected into a collection facility (16). The apparatus is mounted on a structure (17) having an elongate table top (18) along one elongate side of which the holder (10) and the grinding device (12) are mounted in spaced relation with the trransfer means. The transfer means comprises a carriage (20) tracking a first set of rails (24) lengthwise of the top (18). The carriage (20) is movable along the rails (24) between the holder (10) and a grinding position.
