Abstract

A device for assisting the gardener in driving a stake into the ground. The device comprises a cup 1 internally shaped to accommodate a variety of different width or diameter stakes 17 and an arm 2 attached to the cup 1 and having a handle grip 3 at an end thereof. A stake is placed into the desired position. The cup end of the device is then placed over the stake and the handle grip held firm with one hand. A mallet is then used to hammer the top of the cup and in so doing drives the stake into the ground. The device enables the gardener to drive a stake into the ground without breaking or splitting the top of the stake and without fear of injury to the hand. The internal shape of the cup ensures that all sizes of stakes are automatically centralized. <IMAGE>

Description

GARDEN STAKE BONER This invention relates to a device to assist the gardener in driving a stake into the ground.

When driving a stake or similar item into the ground many problems can occur. Such as the top of the stake splitting away, thus rendering the stake useless or the obvious knocks to the hand when the hammer misses the top of the stake.

An object of the present invention is to provide a device which will eliminate the aforementioned problems and enables the stake, cane or similar item to be driven into the ground.

In accordance to the present invention the device compromises of an arm attached to at one end a preferably cup shaped device, internally formed in such a manner as to permit various size stakes or similar items to centralise within it.

The top of the outside of the cup has been formed to take the impact centrally from the blows of hammering. At the other end of the arm a handle or grip is attached to provide a firm hold.

The invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 is the side elevation of a device embodying the present invention.

Figure 2 is the side elevation partly in section of the cup shaped device showing the internal shape Figure 3 is a top view of the cup shaped section.

Figure 4 is an underside view of the cup shaped section.

Figure 5 shows very diagramatically the way in which the device is used.

The device shown in the drawings comprises an arm 10 Figure 1 at one end of which is a cupped shaped section 11 and at the other end a handle grip 12.

The internal shape of the cup 13 Figure 2 is so formed as to take a variety of different width or diameter stakes. All of which centralize within the cup.

The top of the outside of the cup 14 Figure 2 & 3 is formed to take the impact of hammering and to ensure all blows are centralized on the cup shaped section.

The arm 15 Figure 2,3 & 4 is attached to the cup preferably at this point and by a means suitable to secure effectively in the task it has to undertake.

In use the garden stake bonker 16 Figure 5 is placed over the end of the garden stake 17 and with sharp blows from a hamper 18 the stake is safely and accurately driven into the ground.

With the use of this device it is now possible to drive stakes safely and accurately into the ground.

Claims

1. Garden stake bonker comprises of an arm of which supports at one end a cup shaped device. Internal means being provided in its shape to allow the insertion of various size stakes each being centralized by the shape. A handle grip at the other end of the arm a safe distance from the cup permits the user to securely hold the device in hand. With a mallet in the other hand the stake can be driven into the ground without damage to the stake or person.

2. A device according to claim 1 including a cup or similar shaped device internally designed so to take and centralize a variety of different size stakes.

3. A device according to claim 1 or claim 2 and in which the outside of the cup or similar shape device is so designed to take the impact or blows centrally from a hammer or mallet.

4. A device according to claim 3 and in which the cup or similar shaped device is supported on an arm of which a handle is attached at a safe distance from the cup.

5. A combination of a device according to any preceeding claim with a garden stake, the device being positioned on the end of the garden stake enabling a hammer or mallet to drive the stake into the ground.

6. A garden stake bonker device substantially as hereinbefore particularly described and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

7. A combination of a garden stake and a garden stake bonker device substantially as hereinbefore particularly described and as illustrated in figure 5 of the accompanying drawings.
