Abstract
A protruding member or members in the shape of an inflated bubble, crescent or half moon, is harnessed to the front of an infant, stopping it from lying on its front, overheating and asphyxiation, thus reducing the risk of cot death. May also be used to protect infant against injury when in a motor vehicle involved in a collision. <IMAGE>
Description
INFANT INFLATED INFLATABLE SAFETY DEVICE
The invention relates to an inflated inflatable safety device.
The inflated inflatable device comprises a harness upon which sits an inflated or inflatable member, or curved piece of foam or fibre, to the front, positioned around infant body, with obstruction of inflated inflatable member to chest.
According to the present invention there is provided a cloth harness that contains an inflated inflatable member which, when strapped around infant, restricts the infant from turning onto a facial position when lying down. Infant safety device is also used when infant is being transported within motor vehicle to prevent or reduce injury under collision.
Adjustable straps or fittings to prevent any "riding up" of device, for different age group,s anQ varying sizes. Detachable straps or fittings have quick release attachments (for example, velcrWo%stenings) or anything that binds and makes fast.
The protruding member may house apouch or the like for the incorporation of aromatherapy products or musical device to aid infant's sleep or breathing pattern.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figures landl.l show in perspective the infant lying on its back with infant inflated inflatable safety device attached.
Figure 2 and 2.1 illustrate same device unattached.
Figure 3 and 3.1 demonstrate the obstruction when infant is lying in sleeping state and tries to turn onto a facial position.
Figure 4 shows infant carried on child seat or child conveyance, pram, carry cot, or the like.
Figure 5 illustrates different versions of infant inflated inflatable safety device.
Referring to the drawings in figure 1 a shaped piece of foam or fibre or air bubble or bubbles attached to body of infant.
Referring to drawing in figure 2 a harness or bodice (1) or the like. Securing tabs or buttons orvelcro or the like fitted to back, side, front or top of apparatus. Further adjustable plasters, like tabs for securing purposes, may also be used. In order to provide sleeping comfort securing devices (2), figure 2, can be put into various places to suit needs, for example securing to sides or top rather than back.
Referring to drawing infigure 3 as infant moves into frontal position it will be obstructed or hindered by protruding member, automatically stopping frontal position being achieved. Protruding member can reduce heat between infant and covering or coverings. Protruding member may require special positioning, subject to special needs or the like, for example body burns or bone fractures.
Referring to drawing in figure 4 the same safety device when attached to body of infant may reduce neck, vertebrae or head injuries while vehicle is under collision or the like.
Referring to drawing infigure 5 alternative ways of incorporating the infant inflated inflatable safety device into garments, whether fixed on or fixed in. This may also be a method of keeping the body away from contact with garments, bedclothes and the like in the cases of special needs as described above.
Claims (8)
1. A detachable safety harness or garment with a protruding member or members from front,
controlling the positioning and movement of infant.
2. A protruding member or members restricts the frontal or prone position as stated in Claim
1.
3. Reduces risks of overheating plus dangers of overly tight wrappings to infant while lying
in cot. (Reference to figure 3).
4. Reduces injury when used in child seat of vehicle or other conveyance for transporting
when vehicle is under collision. (Reference to figure 4.4).
5. Can be inflated or inflatable by a number of different methods - for example, air, liquid,
gases, solid matter, foam, man-made or natural fibre.
6. That flexibility of claim 1 when fitted has the potential to ensure that infant cannot get onto
its front without immediately rolling back onto its side.
7. That flexibility of claim 1 when fitted has the potential to be secured by a number of
securing devices depending on personal needs, which also prevents "riding up" of harness.
8. That flexibility of claim 1 when fitted has the potential to incorporate aromatherapy or
aromatic products or musical devices in a pouch or the like to aid infant's sleep pattern.
