Abstract

The wheel-jack consists of a basic @ shaped mild steel tubular frame with a stalk or handle 1 which carries a foot/ knee thrust pad 2, the frame has two legs 3 and each of these legs supports a roller. As the removal and replacement of a road wheel takes place the wheel rests on the rollers, and in using the wheel-jack, the operator is required to exert force by foot or by knee on the thrust pad in order to raise the road wheel to the desired position. <IMAGE>

Description

EASY-LIFTING, MANUALLY-OPERATED, WHEEL JACK.
DESCRIPTION The device consists of a basic w shaped metal frame mounted on 2 small wheels for ease of forward movement, with a hand grip and sponge foot/knee pad on the stalk. The two legs of the support 2 rollers allowing rotary movement to ease positioning of the vehicle wheel prior to mounting on the wheel studs.
OPERATION Before removing the road wheel from the wheel studs of the vehicle slip the device under the wheel, controlling the height by placing one foot or knee on the pad. Ease the wheel off, keeping sufficient force on the device, which can be wheeled away from the vehicle. Once the wheel is clear of the vehicle it can be rolled off the device. To replace the wheel reverse the manoeuvre.
PURPOSE To reduce back-strain/finger injuries when changing road wheels of light commercial vehicles and cars. The device has proved to be particularly useful for female operatives attending car maintenance classes in Technical College.

Claims (6)

  1. (Panel C)
CLAIMS 1. An easy-lifting, manually-operated Wheel-Jack which by its use in the changing of motor vehicle road wheels reduces back-strain and the risk of finger injuries.
  2. 2. A manually-operated Wheel-Jack as claimed in claim > employing the method of applying force by foot or knee to raise a road wheel, thus giving the freedom of both hands to turn the road wheel on the jack rollers until the wheel fixing holes face the wheel studs.
  3. 3. A wheel jack as claimed in claims 1 anU2 has proved useful for female operatives attending car maintenance classes in technical college.
  4. 4. An easy-lifting manually operated wheel-jack as claimed in the above claims which is suitable for use in the removing and replacing of the road wheels of motor cars, motor vans and light commercial trucks.
  5. 5. The stalk (handle) of the wheel-jack as claimed in claims 1 to 4 is detachable whereby stowage of the jack is facilitated
  6. 6. An easy-lifting, manually operated wheel-jack as described herein with reference to the accompanying drawing.
