Abstract

A vehicle handling attachment is provided for use for handling and manoeuvre of vehicles. The unit is slid onto fork truck tines at (A). When driven beneath a vehicle from front or rear, tyre forks (c) come into contact with the vehicles tyres. The forks start to hinge open in a horizontal plane around the tyres stopping at position (C1). Now the attachment may be raised clear of the ground to manoeuvre the vehicle. Steering is achieved by means of a cross head (b) swivelling on bearings mounted in main body (A) and centralised by means of extension springs and cables mounted within the main body. Once the manoeuvre is completed the attachment is lowered and slowly reversed from beneath the vehicle during which the springs mounted in the main head (B) and attached to the tyre forks (C) return both of the forks to the closed position. <IMAGE>

Description

Titie This invention relates to a vehicle handling attachment or V.H.A.
Background Damaged or Disabled vehicles are constantly difficult to handle/move without causing any further damage. The V.H.A. is designed to fit to the tines of a Fork Lift Truck, thus enabling the operator to connect the attachment around the wheels or tyres of any vehicle. When raised the vehicle can be manoevered in any position required by the operator.
Technical Features Consists of a main hollow section fork tine housing with a spring loaded swivelling head and two return tyre forks.
Instructions for use (1) Drive the Vehicie Handling Attachment under the vehicle until the Tyre Forks hit the vehicle wheel and turn into open position around the tyre.
(2) Operate the Fork Lift to Lift Attachment, raising the vehicle wheels off the ground at one end.
(3) The vehicle can now be manoevered, stearing on main bearing hinge pin.
(4) The parked vehicle can now be lowered, as the Vehicle Handling Attachement is withdrawn, the Tyre Forks return to closed position and the NaIn Head returns to central position.
(5) The Vehicle Handling Attachment is now set, in position to return to operaticn (1).

Claims (1)

  1. Claims (1) The V.H.A. comprises of 3 moving parts and a main dy
    block.
    (2) The V.H.A. as claimes in (1) comprises the moving parts coupled to the body block b means of one main central bearing and two hinge pins.
    (3) The V.H.A. as claimed in (1) and (2) comprises 4 return springs and 2 wire cables, these are connected so as to enable the moving parts to return to reload position when disengaged.
    -(4) The V.H.A. as claimed in (1) (2) and (3) is designed to fit over the tis of a Forks Lift Truck and held in position by means of connecting chain.
