Abstract

A therapeutic aroma diffuser, which is portable, consists of a unit containing a heating plate (11) which operates at a pre-set temperature and by using in conjunction with a pre-impregnated aromatherapy lozenge (12) delivers a fixed dosage of aromatherapy oil over a specific period of time. <IMAGE>

Description

PORTABLE THERAPEUTIC AROMA DIFFUSER This invention relates to a portable therapeutic aroma diffuser.
The benefits of using aromatic "essential oils" of vegetable origin for therapeutic means (a practise known as, and hereafter referred to as "aromatherapy") has long been established; particularly when said aromatherapy oils are diffused into an atmosphere and passively inhaled.
The traditional established methods of diffusing these aromatherapy oils into an atmosphere however involve time-consuming and messy handling of oils, and diffusing the same by use of ceramic burners or by incorporation into bulky devices such as ionizers.
According to the present invention there is provided a portable therapeutic aroma diffuser comprising a heated plate that operates at a constant preset temperature and which is used in conjunction with a pre-impregnated lozenge of aromatherapy oil which necessarily forms part of the unit as a whole.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the diffuser.
Figure 2 shows in perspective the diffuser with aromatherapy lozenge in place.
Figure 3 shows the aromatherapy lozenge.
Referring to the drawing the diffuser comprises a body (10) which contains a non-specific heating plate (11) which is designed to operate at a pre-set temperature, this being the optimum temperature for diffusion of aromatherapy oil, said diffusion being brought about by placing pre-impregnated aromatherapy lozenge (12) onto the heating plate (11). Ventilation for the heating plate is provided by means of cutaway slots (13). A neon indicator light (14) indicates unit is operational. A retaining grille (15) is incorporated to prevent lozenge (12) from being easily dislodged from heating plate during use.

Claims (2)

1 A portable therapeutic aroma diffuser comprising a non-specific heating plate that operates at a constant pre-set temperature and which is used in conjunction with a pre-impregnated lozenge of aromatherapy oil which necessarily forms part of the unit as a whole.
2 A portable therapeutic aroma diffuser as claimed in claim 1 which emits a fixed dosage of aromatherapy oil over a specific period of time.
