Abstract

A round box with a vent 15 contains four sections, three of which contain different fragrance impregnated wicks 14 which are rechargeable and adequately isolated from each other. The rotatable box slides on and off its base for recharging purposes. A switch may be connected to the device's electrical power supply making it possible for the user to select one of three fragrances from a distance. The device may be installed in a car's ventilation inlet, with the switch being placed on the car's dashboard. <IMAGE>

Description

SCENT GENERATING DEVICE This invention relates to an air freshener.
Air fresheners are commonly used products to give a particular type of smell to a certain area. There are three basic types of air freshener: spray, jelly, and fragrance impregnated wick. There are then many different fragrances available, e. g. pine, rose, lemon or even the consumer's favourite' perfume.
Air fresheners come in all different shapes and sizes, depending on which type Ce freshener it is.
mir fresheners, however, are relatively harmful to the environmont, because they are not rechargeable and therefore, the whole recipient must be thrown aw y after use, which in the long run does not make them very cost-effective.
The scent generating device is rechargeable, which makes it in the long run, more environment friendly as well as more cost-effective than other air f"esheners. The air fresheners that are currently available, are neither versatile, nor efficient, because their radius of smell is very limited and L the same time, is not very intense. Most air fresheners cannot be applied efficiently to large areas.
According to the present invention there is provided a round box with a vent, which is divided into four sections, three of these sections contain three wicks impregnated with three different fragrances, leaving the remaining section empty. The sections are separated by partitions, four different layers of short thin hairs are fixed to the inside walls of the round box in order to meet with each different partition.
There is also provided a twelve volt electrical engine enclosed in a waterproof box, which is situated above the round box; the electrical engine is connected to a switch. This invention also provides a base to which the main box is adapted to slide on and off There is access to one of the sections through a door.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure lA illustrates the cross section of the device on its base; Figure 1B shows the inside part,of the round box, which rotates, i. e. the four sections; Figure 2 shows the electrical engine and the device's interior viewed from above when the device is switched on; Figure 3 shows the device as seen in Figure 2, but this time switched off and with its access door open; Figure 4 shows the switch, which will be used to select the functions of the device; Figure 5 shows where the device would be located, should the user want to fit it in a car.
Referring to the drawing the scent generating device comprises a round box 17, inside the box there are four sections which rotate, shown in Figure 1B, and which also separates the fragrances from each other. The round box 17 can slide on and off its base thanks to a system of rails 19, this enables the recharging of the fragrance impregnated wicks 14 to be easier. The round box also comprises a vent 15 through which the fragrance will come out whenever the device is switched on. The scent generating device also comprises a twelve volt electrical engine 11 enclosed in a waterproof box 13 which is mounted above the round box, the electrical engine 11 is connected to the four sections' axis 21 in order to make the four sections 20 rotate. The engine 11 is connected, through electrical cables 12, to the switch shown in Figure 4 which selects the fragrances.
Figure 2 illustrates the device when it is switched on. The four sections are divided by partitions 24, three of these four sections contain each one piece of fragrance impregnated wick 14. Two pins 22, which are fixed to each partition 24, pierce into the fragrance impregnated wicks 14, in order to hold them still. The electrical engine 11 is designed to make the four partitions 24 stop in a way that they meet with the layers of short thick hairs 16, in order to impede the fragrances to mix and to impede any scent to come out when the device is switched off. The afore mentioned short thick hairs 16 are stuck to the inside of the round box 17. It is shown in Figure 2 that the device is switched on, because one of the fragrance impregnated wicks 14 is positioned where the vent 15 is, which enables the fragrance to come out.
On the other hand, in Figure 3, it is shown that the device is switched cff, because none of the fragrance impregnated wicks 14 are positioned where the vent 15 is. The round box 17 has a door 23, where the vent 15 is, which can be opened in order to give the user access to replace the fragrance impregnated wicks 14 whenever they are worn out.
Supposing the user would want to install the scent generating device in a car, the switch, shown in Figure 4, would be placed on the dashboard of this same car. The switch will have four different positions, one being to turn the device off (OFF) and the other three to select the fragrances (A,B or C).
Supposing the user decides to install the scent generating device on a car, Figure 5 illustrates in which part of the car 25 the device would be installed the scent generating device would be installed next to the inlet of the car's ventilation system 26.
