Abstract

224,736. Kirschmann, L. Dec. 10, 1923. Extracts, making.-In apparatus for making coffee or other extracts, water is sprayed on the coffee from above and meets hot air passing upwards. The air passes over the coils of an electric heater and then through a cylinder e and hood f, to the coffee which it is contained between two perforated discs g. Water descends on to the coffee from a receptacle h with a perforated bottom, or a perforated ring connected to a water-suppiy may be employed. In the later case the water may be preheated in traversing through a spiral passage surrounding the cylinder e, and an overflow device may be provided.
