Abstract
The 'MOVING PICTURE/FALSE WINDOW' is a line of home furnishing which features picture images on canvas stretches and carried by separate sets of rollers moved by gears which are driven by an electrically operated motor within a frame optionally encased by special magnifying glass. Separate parts of scenery are printed on separate stretches of canvas and fixed on the separate sets of rollers for different directions of movement. An example scene is 'SHIP ON OCEAN' where the ship. clouds and birds at the top half of the picture are printed on a first canvas stretch and move horizontally. The ocean waves with floating objects are on a second stretch and move vertically. The special magnifying glass that encases the scenery has increased thickness at the bottom half to create an illusion of depth and closeness such as ocean waves appearing to become bigger and closer as they approach. Each set of rollers, which creates one direction of movement, may have different diameters to overlap the canvas and not show the line of separation in movement. In another embodiment (Figure 10, not shown) a transparent stretch of material carrying piscatorial images is moved by a set of rollers in front of a sheet of material carrying other images so as to create the illusion of an aquarium. <IMAGE>
Description
MOVING PICTURE/FALSE WINDOW
This invention relates to a MOVING PICTURE / FALSE WINDOW.
Still pictures are commonly seen in almost every home, office and places of entertainment and provide an important part of home furnishings.
The purpose of this invention is to provide individuals with a more visually stimulating home or office decoration, giving the illusion that one is looking out of a WINDOW and beyond, unlike still - life framed scenery that require an understanding eye.
The concept of the MOVING PICTURE / FALSE WINDOW is a line of home furnishings that would be designed as framed MOVING scenery.
The MOVING PICTURE would feature two or more seperate sets of roller mechanisms on which stretched canvas pictures would revolve in front of special magnifying glass. The special magnifying glass
IS NOT REQUIRED for all scenes, it is only required for scenes that require an illusion of depth and closeness such as river or ocean waves becoming bigger as it nears.
Seperate parts of scenery are printed on seperate parts of canvas which are placed on seperate sets of rollers, each set of print represent ONE DIRECTION of movement.
All the sets of rollers are moved by one set of gears and are driven by one electrically opperated motor. Each set of rollers are different size in diameter in order to overlap the canvas and give the appearence of just one complete scenery with parts moving in different directions as the natural movements of the earth, water, sky and all parts of scenery around us.
This assemblage of electronics, paintings, standard or special glass within a framed case would work to provide individuals with a more realistic impression of objects moving against a dynamic background.
The MOVING PICTURE / FALSE WINDOW has an addition to it's values as a picture or painting and that is to provide the consumer with a functional product that would alter the interior decor by adding an additional "WINDOW" to look out of.
Several designs and sizes with one, two, three or more motions
Cont...
- Could be made available to the consumer.
A specific embodiment of the MOVING PICTURE will now be described by way of examples with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows a SINGLE MOTION vertically as you would require for a scene with a waterfall, this would be combined with still scenery as foreground painted on the reverse of the glass.
Figure 2 shows a DOUBLE MOTION horizontally and vertically as would be required for a scene such as ship and clouds moving horizontally on an occean waves that approach vertically, this would require special magnifying glass with an increasing thickness at the bottom half to give the occean waves an illussion of depth and closeness. Full details of this example can be seen on the drawing in figure 11.
Figure 3 shows a TRIPLE MOTION as in figure 2 with an addition of a sunset in the horizon, the sun would be painted on clear material so that the background which is a different motion can still be visable. Another example of this TRIPLE MOTION can be seen from the full drawing in figure 17 which shows:clouds etc. moving horizontally, waterfall moving vertically and a river also moving vertically at a different speed and having the special glass as in figures 4, 5, 11, lia, 71b & 18.
Figures 1 to 17 show some of the examples of motions for the
MOVING PICTURE, there are many more as you imagine with so many types of scenery that can be used.
Figure 18 shows some of the materials used for the making of the MOVING PICTURE / FALSE WINDOW.
