Description

Supportive Plant Pot This invention relates to a supportive plant pot.
Plant pots are well knoll containers for growing and keeping plants in,the plant is normally (if required) supported by placing a cane or stake into the soil within the pot the plant then being tied to it,if the plant is knocked or under the effect of wind or breeze or is particularly tall or awkward the supporting cane or stake soon becomes loose giving little o no support to the plant, frequent refittin6/ZDositioning of the cane or starve is required by pushing down on the soil around it, this action causing compacting of the soil thus disturbing the plant roots and the plant as you do so.
According to the present invention there is provided a plant pot with a boss/bush built into the base of the pot thus becoming interal with the pot whereby a supporting rod can be fitted in the boss/bush giving firm support to the plant when potted, the soil giving the supporting rod secondary support only0 The boss/bush can be arranged in different sizes, types, positions and numbers to suit different types and sizes of pot and the amount of plants to be accommodated in them i.e. one plant might need more than one suttorting rod,a trough type pot would have several boss/bush in a line to accommodate the amount of plants in it needing supporting rods.
The boss/bush can also be manufactured as a separate item and fitted into existing plant pots as desired, the supporting rod then fitted into it,the boss/bush would be placed off centre to allow the plant to be positioned in the centre of the pot.
The boss/bush serves a dual purpose if a rod (solid) is used for the supporting rod this would be placed in the bush,if tubing was used as support this would be placed on the boss.
A specific e,mbodyment of the invention will no be described by way of example with preference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1 shows a cut-away drawing of a plant pot with boss/bush fit-ted to interior of base of plant pt.
Figure 2 shows a cut-awasr drawing of a plant pot with boss/bush fitted to interior of base of ot With supportive rod installed perpendicular to the base(this can be arranged at other angle if required to suit plant).
Figure 3 shows by way of example only one type of boss/bush if manufactured as a separate item to install in existing plant pots, the supporting rod can then be fitted to it.
The plant pot with boss/bush fitted can be used as a normal plant pot if required.
Note:- Figures 1 and 2 sown without soil or plant added It will be appreciated that it is not intended to limit the invention to the previous example only, many variations, such as might readily occur to one skilled in the art, being possible, without departing from the scope thereof as defined by the appended claims.
Referring to the drawing the plant pot comprises plant pot 10 with built in boss/bush 20 this then allows the insertion of the supporting rod 30,this can be a push fit/glued in or manufactured integrally with the boss/bush making it one unit.
If a weak plant is always going to need support the supporting rod 30 can be glued in as a perminent fixture,if plant only needs support untill it is strong enough to support it self the supporting rod 30 can then be removed, this also includes strong normal plants that may need support after repotting, plants that require training to zrowt in certain directions or shapes can greatly be helped by this system by altering the shape or direction of the supportive rod 30.If a plant grows beyond the height of the original supportive rod 30 a ferruled extention can easily be added if required or the plant can be repotted and another supporting rod 30 fitted of suitable length.
The boss/bush can be manufactured to fit existing sizes of cane/dosel/rod/tubing ect,or can be manufactured as a system to fit a specially made supporting rod 30 of a chosen size and material and of various shapes to suit type of plant,as an e?reme the supporting rod 30 can be screw threaded as can the boss/bush and the two screwed together,
