Abstract

This decoy is an adjustable steel frame upon which a dead pigeon is mounted at one end of a steel shaft. At the other end of the steel shaft there is an angled foot plate to push the shaft into the ground. The pigeon is fitted to the frame to imitate a landing pigeon and so attract others.

Description

GLIDING PIGEON DECOY.
This invention relates to a gliding pigeon decoy.
This glider is an adjustable steel frame upon which a dead pigeon is mounted at one end of a main steel shaft. At the other end of the main shaft there is an angled steel foot plate to push the glider into the ground.
A 5mil spring steel main shaft is welded to an anti-twist steel, flat foot plate which is used to insert the glider into the ground for anchorage. The opposite end of the main shaft is bent at 8cm from the end to a 20 bend with a dull point. A detatchable wing assembly slides over the main shaft. This wing assembly consists of one length of 3mil steel 40cm long, bent at 900 in the middle, at both ends having a 90" bend 1scm from the outside end, with dull points at each end. At the centre it is welded to the side of a heavy guage steel tube 2icm long. At the bottom of the steel tube a thread is tapped to receive a threaded wing nut of 6cm, so when the wing assembly is threaded over the main shaft and the wing nut is tightened, this then presents a cradle to mount a dead pigeon onto. By pushing the shaft through the pigeon and pushing the dull spike into the inside of the pigeons skull, then opening the pigeons wings and pushing the wings over the 2 ends dull points, the pigeon will then sit perfectly, (wings open, head up), to glide and bounce in the wind on the spring steel shaft, as to attract other pigeons. The cradle is adjustable for different wind conditions by undoing the wing nut, pushing spike through pigeons head, sliding wing section and pigeon down the main shaft and relocking wing nut at desired height.
