Abstract
224,009. Bamford, J., and Bamford, C. J. Aug. 7, 1923. Haymaking.-To reduce the duration of vibrating of tines of side-delivery rakes, swathturners and like machines each tine 1 is formed at its upper - end into a coil 2 that is clamped under compression between a washer 5 and the rake-bar 4 by a bolt 3. The bolt 3 may have the under side of its head rounded to permit rocking, and clearance 7 is provided in the rake-bar 4 for the same purpose. The bolt may be in two parts hooked together to facilitate the movement of the tine. To prevent the tine moving round the bolt the upper end of the coil passes through a hole in a washer 30 having lips 31 bent upwards to engage the rake-bar. In a modification the tine is formed at its upper end with one lip which is held against the rake-bar by a separate spring under compression. In further modifications the clamping spring bears against the rake bar and holds the loop of the tine against a flange ,on a sleeve surrounding a securing bolt or against the lower end of a hollow casing respectively. Two tines formed of a single length of material may be mounted as above described, the eve or the flange being formed at the junction of the tines
