Abstract

A double-flap surgical tape to hold various types of medical tubings to patients' body. Catheters, wound drainage tubes, leads, probes, wires and the like can be held securely in situ. Multilayer differential adhesive coatings allow each flap to perform specific function. Whereas the base flap attaches to skin the partly free top flap folds over to secure tubing in place. The two flaps are incompletely, but strongly, bonded together. <IMAGE>

Description

FIX-A-TUBE PLASTER The Product The FIX-A-TUBE plaster is basically a double-sided adhesive strip meant to secure various kinds of medical tubings to the body.
Description The FIX-A-TUBE Plaster comes in strips of different sizes. Each strip is rectangular in shape with round corners. It has a plaster base on the underside and a flap on the topside.
The Plaster Base is made of a carrier sheet of polyester, 12p thick fully coated with an acrylate adhesive. The adhesive layer is protected by a paper-liner. The carrier reference is B2100 and the adhesive MI400 on MACtac product list.
The Flap is made of a carrier sheet of polyprophylene 20 # thick. Half of the Flap is fused with the upper surface of the Plaster Base and is free of adhesive. The other half of the Flap is loose and is coated on its upper surface with a low-tack adhesive sparing the edge. The carrier reference is B1200 and the adhesion MM on MACtac product list.
Function Removing the paper-liner, the Plastic Base is affixed to the skin. The top-liner is next removed.
The tubing is placed over the centre of the Flap. The tubing is held in place by folding over the loose half of the flap and attaching it to the fixed part.
