Abstract
A bag clasp includes a permutation lock body having a lock member 7 with a projection 72 which engages an aperture 111, 121 in a member to be locked when the member is inserted into the lock body. When a correct combination is set on wheels 2a, 2b, flats on sleeves 4a, 4b fast with the wheels allow member 7 to rise and release projection 72. Axial movement of a member 6 can disengage sleeves 4 from wheels 2 and allow a combination change. <IMAGE>
Description
A BAG CLASP
The present invention relates to a hag, and more particularly to a clasp for a bag
Normally, a bag regardless of whether it is a handbag a shoulder-carrying bag or a convenient brief-bag is providers viith a clasp which is sometimes provided with a lock controlled hy a key which, however, gets misplaced relatively easily.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a bag clasp provided with e numerical lock.
According to the present invention, a clasp for 2 bag includes a male half and a female lialf cooperating to close the bag wherein the niale half further includes a numerical lock having an actuating piece having an engaging enrl wl-lich Engages with the fenlale half when the numerical whells do not have correct numerals, and disengages from the female half when the numerical wheels are put under correct numerals to allow the bag to be opened.
The present invention may best be understood through the following tlescription with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig, 1 is a perspective view showing a male half of a clasp according to the present invention; Fits. 12 and 1C are perspective views showing two female halves for a clasp according to the present invention;; Figs. ?A-2E are respectively a top view, a front view a left side view, a right side view and a bottom view of a male half of a clasp in Fig. 1A; Fig 3 is e sectional view talcen along line A-A in Fig. 2A; Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken along line R-B in Fig. 2A;
Fig. 5 is an exploded view showing a male half in Fig. 1A; Fig.G is a front view schematically showing a shoulder-carrying hag incorporating a clasp according to the present invention;
Fig. 7 is a front view schematically showing a convenient brief bag incorporating a clasp according to the present invention; and
Fig. 5 is a front view scheniatically showing a handbag incorporating a clasp according to the present invention.
Referring now to Figs. 1-5, a clasp for a bag according to the present invention includes a male half 1 and a female half 11 (12) having an engaging hole 111 (121) cooperating to thereby close the bag wherein the male half is provided with a numerical lock and the female half can he a pulling piece 12 of a zipper so that the present clasp can he embodient in a bag using a zipper, as shown in Fig. P The numerical lock provided on the male half includes two hollow numerical wheels oa, 2b hoth having internal teeth 21, a mounting housing formed hy an upper housing 3a partly protruding therefrom numerical wheels 2a, 2b and a lower housing b, two sleeve memhers ta, 4b, a positioning shaft 5 mounted in mounting housing (3a, 3b), a spiral spring 51 mounted on shaft 5 and between the head of shaft 5 and sleeve member ae. an adjusting (numerical-changing) member 6, and an actuating piece 7, among which numerical wheels 2a, 2h and sleeve members 4a, 4b and only these two are known in the prior art so far as the knowledge of the Applicant is concerned so that the feature of the present invention does not reside in these two elements.
Each sleeve member da (4b) is sliciably and rotatably mounted on positioning shaft 5 and includes an annular flange having a flattened protion 42a (42b) and several teeth 41a (41b) capabler of meshing with internal teeth 21 in the manner that flattened portion 42a (42b) will flushly match against actuating piece 7 when numerical wheels ?a, 2h get correct numerals Ashen numerical wheels 2a, 2b get correct numerals, adjusting member 6 mounted in mounting housing (3a, 3b) can be inwardly pressed at the place labelled P by a small tool to slide leftwards sleeve members 4a, 4b along positioning shaft 5 to disengage teeth 41a (41b) from internal teeth 21 so that numerical wheel 2a (2h) can now freely rotate without carrying therewith sleeve member 4a (nh) to rotate and thus the correct numerals for numerical wheels 2a, 2b can be re-set.
Thereafter, spring 51 will mesh teeth 41a (41b) with internal teeth 21 again when the force applied on adjusting member 6 is removed.
Actuating piece 7 pivotally Inounted in mounting housing 3a, 3h and biasses against by springs 71a, 71b includes two rJrooves 73 capable of respectively positioning therein numerical wheels ?a, 2b and an ennaging end 72 which disengages from engaging hole 111 (121) nf female half 11 (12) when flattened portions 42a 42n flushly natch against actuating piece 7 so that the bag can be opened, and engages with engaging hole 111 (121) if either one of flattened portions 42a, 42b does not flushly match against actuating piece 7 so that the bag provided with the present clasp is closerl or locked.
Upoii assembling, 4 legs 34a, 34b, 34c and 34d of lower housing 3b are respectively inserted into 4 slots 36a, 36b, 36c and 36d of a niotinting plate 35. After relevant elements have properly been received in lower housing 3b, a positioning projection 31 of upper housing 3a is inserted into a hole 32 of lower housing 3b before a welding tab '?.3 of upper housing 3a is welded to lower housing 3b to fori a male half of a clasp, as shown in Fig. 1A.
Fin. g schematically shows a shoulder-carrying bag incorporating a clasp 91 according to the present invention. Fig. 7 schematically shows a convenient brief bag incorporating a clasp 92 according to the present invention. Fig. fl. schematically shows a handbag which is provided with a zipper 93 and incorporates thereon a clasp 94 according to the present invention.
It can be noticed that one can effect a numeral change for numerical wheels 2a, 2h only when flattened portions 42a, 42b fliishly match against actuating piece 7.
