Abstract
A continuous stationery assembly consisting of forms and return envelopes therefor. The assembly comprises a back sheet (10) and a narrower-front sheet (11). Each form with its accompanying envelope is connected to the next by tranverse perforations (12) and the form can be separated from its envelope along a transverse perforation line (13). The envelope is formed by a U-shaped adhesive area (14, 15, 16) and a flap defined by a longitudinal perforation line (17). Adhesive (18) is provided on the flap. The forms are preferably narrower than the envelopes for easy insertion of the former into the latter. <IMAGE>
Description
CONTINUOUS STATIONERY FORMS AND ENVELOPES
This invention relates to continuous stationery forms and envelopes.
In accordance with the invention there is provided a continuous stationery assembly comprising a continuous back sheet, a continuous front sheet narrower than said back sheet, said back sheet having one edge aligned with an edge of the front sheet, a plurality of separate pockets formed between said back sheet and said front sheet by adhesive attachment of said back and front sheets together on longitudinal lines adjacent said one edge and on transverse lines, the back sheet being longitudinally perforated along a line spaced from the other edge of said front sheet, and both sheets being transversely perforated, such perforations permitting removal of the envelopes formed by said pockets with the part of said front sheet lying between said other edge of the back sheet and said longitudinal perforation line forming a sealing flap for such envelope, and adhesive applied to said part of the front sheet to enable a user to seal such envelope once separated from the assembly.
In an example of the invention shown in the accompanying drawing, the continuous stationery assembly comprises a back sheet 10 which has two detachable margins with sprocket holes (not shown).
There is also a narrower front sheet 11 with only one detachable margin with sprocket holes (not shown). The sheets are cross perforated on transverse lines 12 and 13 with alternative narrower and wider spacing.
In each of the wider areas between cross perforations, the front sheet is adhesively attached to the back sheets along a longitudinal line 14 adjacent the margin and along two transverse lines 15, 16 to form a pocket. The back sheet is also longitudinally perforated along a line 17 which is spaced from the free edge of the front sheet. An envelope can be separated from the assembly, such envelope consisting of one of the pocketed portions, with the part of the back sheet lying between the free edge of the front sheet and the perforation line 17 forming a flap. As shown an adhesive area 18 is provided on each of these flaps either in the form of printed re-moistenable adhesive, or a self adhesive strip with a peelable cover strip.
The assembly described above can be used as follows.
Personal details can be printed on any areas of the front and back sheets as required. The assembly is then separated along the lines 12 and sent to the individual or establishment concerned. Various spaces on the back sheet are then filled in by the recipient who splits the forms up, inserts a return part into the envelope and seals the latter. The envelope is already printed with a return address.
If desired, the portions of the front sheet in between the pockets or envelopes may be spot glued to the back sheet to avoid inadvertent, premature detachment thereof. These portions may contain information explaining to the recipient how he should complete the spaces.
Claims (5)
1. A continuous stationery assembly comprising a continuous back sheet, a continuous front sheet narrower than said back sheet, said back sheet having one edge aligned with an edge of the front sheet, a plurality of separate pockets formed between said back sheet and said front sheet by adhesive attachment of said back and front sheets together on longitudinal lines adjacent said one edge and on transverse lines, the back sheet being longitudinally perforated along a line spaced from the other edge of said front sheet, and both sheets being transversely perforated, such perforations permitting removal of the envelopes formed by said pockets with the part of said front sheet lying between said other edge of the back sheet and said longitudinal perforation line forming a sealing flap for such envelope, and adhesive applied to said part of the front sheet to enable a user to seal such envelope once separated from the assembly.
2. A continuous stationery assembly as claimed in
Claim 1 in which adjacent pockets along the assembly are spaced apart by intervening portions of the front and back sheets.
3. A continuous stationery assembly as claimed in
Claim 2 in which said intervening portions are narrower in the direction of the length of the continuous assembly than the pockets.
4. A continuous stationery assembly as claimed in
Claim 2 or Claim 3 in which the front and back sheets are attached together within said intervtning portions.
5. A continuous stationery assembly substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawing.
