Abstract
A metronomic visual device comprising of an array of lights in the form of light emitting diodes mounted on a flexible membrane or chassis with a synchronizing input to provide a display simulating the movement of a conductors baton.
Description
METRONOMIC VISUAL DEVICE
This invention relates to an electronic metronomic device and in particular a metronomic visual indicator normally synchronized to pre-recorded musical information.
Metronomic devices are known which provide a variety of audible and visual indicators.
Generally this information is in the form of an audible click or single pulsing light emitting diode (LED) or small liquid crystal display (LCD).
None of the aforementioned devices allow for synchronization to pre-recorded musical information.
In accordance with the present invention,a metronomic visual device comprising of an array of light emitting diodes to give a visual indication of musical timing to a synchronizing input.
Consequently a musician may record a performance that can be synchronized to machines without the accompaniment of audible clicks.
In the case of a musician also reading music, one of the features of the device is that the visual display is large and bright enough to be followed by the peripheral vision of the musician in the same manner as a Conductors baton may be followed.
The device may also generate its own timing signal.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to figure 1.
Referring now to figure 1.
A number of light emitting diodes are arranged so that their operation may imitate the movement of a Conductors baton.
Further arrangements (not shown) of the device may comprise of an array of light emitting diodes mounted on a flexible membrane or chassis allowing the user to form a unique display pattern.
Claims (3)
1. A metronomic visual devise comprising of an array of light emitting diodes.
2. A metronomic visual devise comprising of an array of light emitting diodes with a synchronizing input.
3. A metronomic visual device as claimed in any preceding claims mounted on a flexible membrane or chassis.
