Abstract

221,505. Maschinenfabrik Augsburg- N³rnberg Akt.-Ges. Sept. 6, 1923, [Convention date]. Photo-mechanical printing-surfaces. - Planographic printing plates are prepared by first producing a printed text or black and white pen inscriptions or drawings on transparent or semitransparent material such as paper, producing from this positive a negative on transparent or translucent lightsensitized material preferably sepia paper, and printing the negative on to the sensitive plate. Screen negatives of half tone pictures may be stripped from their support and transferred on to the paper negative of the type matter and copied therewith on to the plate, the stripping being preferably effected by means of a temporary support consisting of a thin sheet of flexible transluscent material, such as oiled or tracing paper or celluloid film, to which the screen negative adheres less strongly than to the paper negative. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the transfer of grained half-tone picture negatives on to the paper negative, the graining being preferably effected by using ammonia, dilute caustic alkali solution, and a bath of water and calcium chloride, and also the use of the process for transferring to the printing plate several pictures without letterpress which have been photographed on different plates. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
