Reinforced concrete.-A fabric reinforcement for concrete roads, paths, buildings, bridges, tanks, and other structures, consists of a series of transverse pairs of bars A, B, Fig. 1, bent alternately up and down and placed together so that the bends form loops C, and longitudinal bars D passed through the loops. Additional transverse or longitudinal bars, such as F, and ligatures e, f may be added. The upper and lower portions of the bars A, B may extend from one bar D to the next but one, and adjacent pairs of bars A, B may be staggered. To stiffen the network, inclined bars G, Fig. 6, or H, Fig. 7, may be added. The bars D may also be bent similarly to the bars A, B, or may consist of short lengths J, Fig. 8, bent and hooked on the transverse bars. The bars may extend diagonally in a road or other surface.
