Abstract
A demountable skip emptier is in the form of a mild steel container that can be carried on the back of a lorry, and has means for lifting and tipping a skip 6, at one end of the container, together with means for forcing rubbish from the skip into the container. <IMAGE>
Description
THE DEMOUNTABLE SKIP ET-.PTIER.
TLCHNI^AL FIELD
This information relates to a means of emptying industrial/ domestic waste skips.
BA~KGROJND The waste skip is a well-known means of disposing of waste, both industrial and domestic. The problem is that when sKips are trans; orted on the wagon they may have relatively little weight in proportion to the capacity of the skip. This means that the vehicle is travelling frm site to tip under its potential weight capacity and therefore under-utilised.
The skip emptier is a means whereby numerous skiis have their contents emptied and crushed on the site of each individual skip thereby eliminating the need for unnecessary journeys to the tipping site.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL FEATURES According to the present invention there is provided a demountable mild steel container which is transported by skip wagon/multilift/Rolonof/fixed chassis cab, to the required site.
The vehicle backs up to the skip and by means of hook, trunnions and hydraulic lift, the skip is lifted up into the air and a hydraulic door empties the skip and crushes the rubbish into an enclosed container.
A specific embodiment of the invention will no be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1. shows in perspective the skip emptier in position
on the skip wagon. The skip emptier is lifted
onto the skip wagon in the conventional manner
and by means of connecting two hydraulic self
seal couplings the skip emptier is ready for
use.
Figures 2-5. assume the ski emptier is mounted on the vehicle.
Figure 2. The skip is originally modified by welding two
trunnions 8 onto the front of the skip and by
use of the existing lugs 9 on the back of the
skip. The illustration shows the skip erptier backed up to the skip 6 and by means of the
hydraulic control valves 5 the skip lifting
arms 3 are lowered by means of the hydraulic
cylinder 4 the chains 10 are attached to the
existing lugs 9 on the skip.
Figure 3. By operation of the control valves 5 the lifting
arms 3 lift the skip into the air catching on
the hooks 11 on the back of the skip emptier.
The hydraulic doors 1 are opened using hydraulic
cylinder 2.
Figure 4. The hydraulic doors extend into the skip by
means of the hydraulic cylinder 12 and by the
operation of hydraulic cylinders 2 the rubbish
is forced out of the skip into the skip emptier.
Any spillage is controlled by a litter screen 7.
Figure 5. shows the completed cycle with all the rubbish
in the skip emptier. By operation of the skip
lift 3 the skip is lowered to the ground and
disconnected from the skip emptier.
Figures 6 & show the construction of the hydraulic door which
is controlled by the hydraulic cylinder 12 built
into the hollow sections controlled by hydraulic control
valve 5.
On the edge of the hydraulic door there are
rubber strips 14. The rubber strips allow for
variation of skip widths and also fcrm a litter
tight seal when the hydraulic door is closed.
Figure 8. The skip emptier has a moveable ejector Relate 15
mounted on rollers 16 which move from the front of
the skip etnptier to the rear forcing out the rubbish
on to the tip.
Figure 9. The moveable ejector plate 15 is connected to the
hydraulic doorlby means of a chain 17 which therefore
alleviates the need to have an hydraulic cylinder
to operate the ejector plate 15. The ejector plate 15
is forced back to the front of the skip emptier by
the rubbish as the skip emptier is being filled.
Claims (8)
1.
A Demountable Skip Emptier comprises of a mid steel container
that can be lifted onto a skip loader / multi lift ; rolonoff.
It works by means of a hydraulic packer mechanism actually
going into the skip and forcing rubbish into the container.
2.
A Demountable Skip Emptier as claimed in 1. wherein hooks are
provided on the skip emptier to co-operate with the skip to
control the locking and lifting of the skip.
3.
A Demountable Skip Emptier by virtue of it design uses the
skip as a hopper and thereby the full capacity of the skip
emptier is used for waste.
4.
A Demountable Skip Emptier by virtue of the hydraulic packer
mechanism as claimed in 1. goes into the skip. This system can
be used on conventional skips by welding on two trunnions
thereby alleviating the need for expendi-ure on net specialized ski ps
5.
A Demountable Skip Emptier maizes a skip loader a dual purpose
vehicle i.e. emptying either conventional heavy builders waste sips or light industrial skips.
6.
A Demountable Skip Emptier by using the skiL as a hopper
alleviates the weight problem created by conventional rear end
loaders.
7.
R Detrountable Skip Emptier by virtue of its design in not
having a fixed hopper allows the rubbish to enter the skip
emptier more quickly and efficiently with less mechanical
damage to the hydraulic system, doors and skip compared to a
conventional rear end loader.
8.
A Demountable Skip Emptier by virtue of its construction by
connecting the hydraulic packer to the ejector plate allows the
rubbish to be forced to the rear end of the skip emptier and
thereby onto the tip. This alleviates the need to use another
hydraulic cylinder and therefore reduces both the cost and
weight of another cylinder.
