Abstract
An adjustable swim-feeder that has a two part body incorporating slots or holes 2 that are adjustable to give a slow bait feed when they are almost fully covered through to a fast feed when they are set at fully open. Adjustment may be by rotation of inner member 4 within outer member 1 and a stop may limit rotation. In a modification, inner and outer cylindrical members are axially adjusted to vary slot size. A compartment 3 is provided to receive weights. <IMAGE>
Description
ADJUSTABLE SHIM-FEEDER.
This invention relates to an adjustable swim-feeder for fishing.
Swim-feeders are a well known part of an anglers fishing tackle, they are used to carry the bait to the exact spot that the angler requires.
They are made in two basic forms, one being the open-end type, this is just a basic tube with the ends left open. The other type is known as a block-end feeder, this has caps on the ends therefore holding the bait in for longer periods of time. They all have holes or slots in them of a fixed size therefore the bait can only be released at a preset speed.
According to the invention there is a tubular outer body made from a suitable material that has slots or holes of an appropriate size and number along the sides. Also on the outer body there may be a compartment into which the weight required to hold the swim-feeder in position on the river bottom is placed.
Also there is an inner body that is made in a form whereby in one position the slots or holes are almost fully covered, this can be adjusted so that the said slots or holes are completely open.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure I shows in perspective the swim-feeder in the open-end form (no caps), the outer and inner parts of the body are in position with the slots covered, this is the slow feed position.
Figure 2 shows the inner body separate from the outer body and in a form that may be used to cover or uncover the slots or holes.
Figure 3 shows the slots or holes in the opposite direction.
Referring to the drawing the adjustable swim-feeder comprises a main body that is made up from two parts Figure 1. The outer body 1 has slots or holes 2 that are of a suitable size and number spaced out along its periphery.
There is an inner body 4 that is shaped to suit the outer body by having holes or sections that are cut away 5 in the fully open position these holes or cut away sections leave the slots or holes 2 in the outer body completely clears this is the fast feed position. The parts of the inner body that donot have holes or sections that are cut away 6 are designed to cover the slots or holes 2 in the outer body 1 so that the bait leaves the swim-feeder at a slower rate.
To adjust the the size of the slots or holes in the swim-feeder the outer body 1 and the inner body 4 are turned in opposite directions, there may be a stop (not shown) to limit the amount of adjustment available to a preset distance0 In Figure 3 the slots or holes are shown in the opposite direction the adjustment could then be made by pushing or pulling the inner and outer body sections in opposite directions.
There may be fitted or moulded to the outer body a compartment 3 Figure 1 designed to carry the weight required to hold the swim-feeder in the preferred position on the river or lake bottom, this weight tan be adjusted to the anglers requirements by using different sizes of weights.
Claims (6)
1. An adjustable swim-feeder comprising inner and outer bodies that have slots or holes that are adjustable in size by twisting the said bodies in the opposite directions.
2. An adjustable swim-feeder as in claim I wherein the adjustment is made by pushing or pulling the inner and outer bodies in the opposite directions.
3. An adjustable swim-feeder as in claim 1 or claim 2 that may have a compartment where the weights for keeping the swim-feeder on the bottom are put.
4. An adjustable swim-feeder as in any preceeding claim wherein the ends of the body have caps or fixed ends (not shown) to hold the bait inside the feeder, or a combination of the two , for example one cap and one fixed end.
5. An adjustable sswim-feeder as in claim 4 wherein the ends of the body are left open.
6. An adjustable swim-feeder substantially described with reference to figures t - 3 of the accompanying drawing.
